Question about Jenn-Air Cooktops
My answer is for the GAS version of CVG4380 downdraft cook top.
If you have an electric version then please let me know.
CVG4380 GAS downdraft unit has safety device call APPLIANCE PRESSURE REGULATOR.
In even the gas get shut off and restart. The natural gas may not able to purge though the regulator.
This unit is directly next to the grease container and blower.
There is a wiring box for the controls.......I will not recommend servicing it.

Are the burner ports clogged?
If burner ports are clogged, refer to your Use and Care Guide for sealed surface burners cleaning recommendations. If you do not have your Use and Care Guide, find it online by entering your product model number in the search tool below.
Clean the ports with a straight pin. Do not reassemble caps on burners while wet. Replace the burner cap, making sure the alignment pins are properly aligned with the burner cap. Do all burners fail to light?
Check to see if the cooktop is connected to the gas supply and the gas shutoff is turned on.
Do you hear a sparking sound?
If there are sparking sounds, the igniter may not be sparking to the burner cap. Turn off the appliance and check to make sure the caps are set on the correct burner base properly. Do not switch the caps from one burner to another as they may not spark properly. Each burner has its own individual cap.
Is the burner head positioned properly?
Cap must be seated on the burner base to light and perform properly. Reinstall the burner cap, making sure the alignment pins are properly aligned with the burner cap.
I have given you a bunch of things to do, one of these should solve your problem. Mostly sounds like burner caps need to be cleaned, gas causes build up of carbon.

Burner will not light: There are a few things to check for. Make sure the electrode ( the small metal piece that the spark comes off from ) is clean and the holes in the burner are clean, use a pin or paper clip to clean out the burner holes and NOT a tooth pick as these can break off and make things worse. Example of a burner. The next thing to check for are theignition switches under the surface control knobs, the switches can twist and break and keep the spark module on and the spark keeps "clicking" even when the burner is light. If every thing looks good, you may have a bad spark module, replace it. Sometimes cleaning can get moisture into the surface switches, try drying them with an hair dryer to see of this will help.
