Burnette 65 bobbin tangling can't adjust thread tension

maybe your machine needs to go in for servicing just to be safe it is possible some thing simple

try a new needle--one that is for the fabric being sewed
then try to adjust the top thread tension again, if the stitches remain loose and the tension won't adjust then the tension knob needs to be checked to see if there is something wrong with it.
also check to make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case, if the bobbin is not turned the right way in the bobbin case the sewing machine will not stitch correctly.

Ironically, often times when the bobbin thread is knotting up, it's the top thread that needs the adjustment. Loos top thread thesion will tangle up in the bobbin cassing...Think about it for a minuted. Try a quarter turn to the right on your top tension and then go fro there. There could be a problem with the bobbon casing tension adjust screw and plate. but I doubt it...Nine times out of ten when the bobbon thread is tangles the top thread is too loose.

There could be several things that could cause the machine not to pick up the bobbin thread.


1. The upper thread could be tangled. Remove the thread completely from the machine. The correct size spool cap should be used for the size of the thread spool. Re-thread the machine according to the directions in the manual.


2. Remove the bobbin and make sure the bobbin is threaded properly in the shuttle race. Remove any loose threads or lint in the shuttle race.


3. You could be holding the needle thread too tight. Hold the thread lightly to keep the end from going down into the shuttle.


4. The needle could be thread incorrectly. Thread the needle eye from the front to the back.


5. The needle could be bent or improperly inserted. Install a new needle with the flat side of the needle facing the back.


If the problem persists, your machine may require service.

The bobbin thread tension has already been adjusted at the factory for general use. For most applications, no adjustment is needed.

When sewing with then thread on thin fabrics, the thread tension may not be adjusted adequately with the upper tension control dial. Therefore, the thread tension must be adjusted according to the procedure described below.

If bobbin tension is too loose and locks appear on the surface of the fabric, decrease the thread tension by turning the dial to a lower number.

If the result is still not satisfactory, then adjust the bobbin thread tension.

Increase the tension in the bobbin by turning the screw with a small screwdriver in a clockwise direction. However, do not turn the screw more than one full turn.

have you checked the tension? In the older machines you could adjust the thread tension by tightening the screw on the side of the bobin case. With alot of the newer machines you have to lift out the bobbin and then lift out the casing to adjust the screw on the underside of the casing.

Before adjusting the bobbin tension (small screw on the side of the bobbin case), try this.

Always thread a sewing machine with the presser foot up as this opens the tension control for the top thread so the thread can be properly seated for control when stitching.

Often what appears to be a problem with the bobbin thread is actually the top thread going loosey-goosey.

there is a screw on the side of the bobbin case, which needs to be turned to the left or counter clockwise to loosen the tension and also change the needle because a burr on the end will cause problems with bobbin thread

Your tension is way too loose on top or too tight on the bobbin. Try adjusting the top tension one number at a time until you get it right. (Only adjust the bobbin tension as a last resort). Also you could have different thickness of thread in the bobbin than on the top or are sewing a very heavy fabric. Try adjusting the tension with same thread in both bobbin and top and use a normal weight fabric until you find the right tension to get you back to a normal stitch before going to a heavier fabric or thread.

Sounds like the bobbin is spinning to fast or is winded to loose. Try adjusting the tension on the bobbin.

Hi, Is it your bobbin thread or the top thread wrapping around the bobbin. I just got a used PE150. The top thread keeps wrapping around the bobbin. It is not picking up the bobbin thread. Did you find a solution for your problem?
