Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
Make sure it's connected right. Switch AV cables. Try moving the switch from HDTV to TV on the AV cale if you have it.

I just got the xbox 360 for christmas 07. Two days later I bought guitar hero 3 and Halo 3.
Get this...the console is noisy and it scratched grooves into both disks and now the games are worthless...I took this piece of junk back to best buy and they were all out of the console for an exchange...so they gave me money back for the system and instructions in how to get the games replaced through microsoft....its a total nightmare because guitar hero 3 isn't published by microsoft so I have to goto redoctane.com to get a hint as to what I have to do....on top of all this, I can't get the games exchanged for new ones until I have a serial number...
Is Bill Gates serious ?

Follow the steps below, Hope this helps
1. Try another Av cable ( Audio video Cable )
2. Try another television
3. If the steps dont work, call xbox customer support to have your xbox serviced. Good Luck! hope your console still has warranty
The main reason why its acting that way its possible that the AV PORT is faulty.

Sorry to hear about your xbox issues but their is some hope.
Xbox 360's have had numerous problems since the beginning.
All of the problems come from the motherboard or more specifically components on the motherboard that fail due to bad design.
One thing you can do to remedy the problem(atleast for a little while) is to heat your xbox 360 up.
When you heat the xbox360 it reflows the cracked brittle solder. Thus fixing the broken contact.
I have fixed many a xbox 360's with just a towel.
What you do is wrap the towel around the xbox in a way to cover up the exhaust ports. You don't want the hot air to escape your xbox.
So wrap your xbox with a towel securly(I use two towels) and then turn it on and wait about 5 minutes.
Turn your xbox360 off and let it cool for 10 minutes. Then turn it back on and play some games.
Their is a bad side to this. The more you do it the harder it is on the internals of your xbox. And overtime this fix will quit working.
Their are permanent fixes to your problem but they are quite involved. You would have to take your xbox apart remove the motherboard, remove the heatsink, reapply thermo grease, use different screws to secure the heatsink among other things.
If you want to go that route I would be more than happy to point to sites that have detailed info on this. Actually if you go to youtube and check around you can find great video's on how to do this.
Well I hope this helps and if it does please give me a "fixya rating" to help me out,
