SOURCE: Tweeters poked to death

I know this sounds silly, but I had the same problem. Your speakers have a little plastic bulb that has been pushed in, right?

If so, simply put your mouth up to the tweeter, seal with your lips and **** gently (seriously). The tweeter dome should pop back out and in to shape.

It worked for me.

Good luck.

SOURCE: hi i am looking for some motorola tweeters for dj

If you're looking for new tweeters, I'd start at e-bay, see if there's any that are matched with yours.

If not, look for (I presume) compression drivers, with the correct sensitivity (sound output at 1 watt) to your woofers. You may need to purchase an adaptor to make the new ones fit the horn.

Also, try to match impedance - if the old ones were 8 ohm, look for new ones that are 8 ohm. Use something different, and the crossover point won't be what's intended. It will either come in an octave too low (the tweeter would die) or too high (big hole in the frequency response).

How do I replace the tweeter on Mordaunt Short Avant 906i speakers?

Hi - Just reading your problem with the 906's and removing the front cover to replace the tweeter. Did you ever solve the issue? because I tried today and I can't budge the silver cover once the screws have been removed. My email address is [email protected] if you can help - thanks

I have no sound coming from the tweeter in my b&w 602

Probably blown, tweeters are much more fragile than lower frequency drivers. If you know how to use an ohmmeter properly you can test it for continuity if it's a good quality meter (cheap ones can blow it out themselves in testing).

I'm having a problem hooking up these speakers... It has 4 hookups in the back of it which ones do I use? I just have a standard reciever to hook them up to...

look at this picture...

http://www.helpus2move.com/sold-items/b-w-dm602-s3-stereo-speakers-bowers-wilkins/

The vertical jumpers are removable if one wishes to BI-amp them. If not, leave them in place and connect your speaker wire conventionally - plus to plus, minus to minus.

The picture here...

http://community.whathifi.com/forums/post/265617.aspx

shows what to do if the jumpers are missing. Just fashion a short jumper for each to connect the top woth the bottom on each side.

Google bi amplification speakers if you're bi-curious. ;-)

M-Audio MX8a tweeter replacement

Remove the six hex screws from the plastic front speaker housing. It\'s the piece with the speaker\'s make and model imprinted.

Gently pry the cover off. The blue LED light can be easily freed by gently prying it loose from the back of the plastic housing. You\'ll notice the two wires connecting your tweeter. Don\'t pull too hard on the cover while the tweeter is still attached to prevent detaching the wires. Instead, take very short, stubby Phillips head screwdriver and remove the two screws holding the small plastic brace against the back of the tweeter. It\'s a tight fit. Don\'t pull too hard on the wires! Next, push the tweeter out from the front, touching only the extreme outer rim. Or, use needlenosed pliers to grip the heat sink on the back of the tweeter and gently pull from the back. The tweeter has a very powerful magnet. Find a small but robust rectangle made of ferrous metal. Large enough to span the front diameter of the tweeter. When the speaker magnet grabs the little metal plate, adjust the plate until the buzzing stops. This means of course that you have to turn the power to the speaker on.
