Question about Olympus MCON-40 for C-750 / C-765 / C-770 (200713) Lens Converter

1 Answer

Exactly the same problem as above.

Will a little lubricant cause bigger problems than the sticky-zoom-lever problem it might solve?

I'd be very cautious putting any liquid lubricant in anything with a lens system. The penetrating lubricants or even 3-in-1 oil are supposed to creep and the lubricants used in cameras are viscous types that will not migrate into critical places.

How can I prevent paper jam 0207 on canon 2230

Although paper jams occur because of dirty pickup rollers I have found that jams occur frequently because of solenoids in the paper feed mechanism (the assembly that the paper trays fit into). There are two of them and over time the damping foam on the levers get sticky causing the lever to operate late which causes the jam. As a fix I remove the damping foam and put insulation tape on the lever making sure the solenoid works by using a 12v bench psu before reassembling. You will need service manual because Paper Feed mechanism removal is a little complex.

Paper feed problems in Canon Laser Jet Printers are caused by these solenoids mainly in Duplex mode. P3005dn's etc.
Hope this helps solve yr problem.

Sticky zoom ring on a Nikkor 18-55 AF-S Zoom. The zoom gets jerky at the 18-24 mark. I think it needs some lube but I don't know where to put it?

You would have to disassemble the lens barrel to get to the zoom sliders, and lubrication is not likely the problem anyway. The zoom mechanism uses nylon bushings sliding in a groove, and zoom problems are usually due to wearing/cracking of those bushings.

If it's still in warranty, send it in. Otherwise, the cost of repair probably exceeds the value of the lens. Sorry.

Dura ace brifters very sticky

You can squirt them with a spray lubricant (bicycle lubricant) to free them up if it is just a dirt issue, you need to pull the brake lever to expose the internal gearing mechanism, don't take anything apart.

If your shifter part is sticky, this usually clears things up. If it does not make trace through the derailleur cable and make sure it's not the cable hanging up instead of your shifter. Replace the cable and housing as necessary.

If its the brake lever, smae check of the cable system but also check the brake itself. The lever will feel sticky when there is a snag in the cable or if the brake is no longer returning with the same spring tension.

After that you can have them rebuilt or replaced. Depends on which model you have 8, 9, 10 (7800, 7900) as too the exact recommendation.

No matter what I seem to do in the control panel for screen resolution in "display", the actual "display" just seems to get bigger and bigger so I feel like I am scrolling from one...

That happen all time or just on the internet browser?. Did you check the zoom lever on internet browser? The zoom lever is on the righ bottom of the internet browser, above the date. Try that and let me now.

Hood will not open-I press the release right above the grill-but it remains hooked. Never happened in the 5 years I've owned this vehicle-and no-I have never lubricated it as the manuel suggests. Just...

Just had the same problem.

I'm assuming that you can release it from inside the van, but you can't get the hood catch (right above the "H") to move far enough.

I used a dandelion puller (long handled screwdriver would probably work) and put it right under the lever, pushing down - as a lever, forcing the lever up - all the time. Eventually got the thing to open. I'm lubricating it now!!!

Sticky zoom control

Put some WD-40 on a cotton swab, squeeze the tip and let it drizzle down into the zoom switch.

Dragging motor and squeak

Absolutely! WD-40 is NOT a lubricant. I've been using Hoppes gun oil, but 3-in-1 oil will work, and you might find oil labeled for use on electric motors at an appliance parts seller.

Flaky zoom

Are you are sure that the problem is in the lever?

If it is so, I have a solution!

We used to play that trick on the old Machine of 80-90s. Just put 1-2 drop of kerosin oil into the contact of the lever after opening that for a while.

Thats all.

Play that lever for number of times before turn that on.

You will get benefit for at least 1 year!

You can use non lubricated machine oil instade of kerosin oil also!

Hope for the best!
