You should be able to select the paper type you use before starting the print. The printer should optimise the print to match the paper you have specified. If the paper is not for photos, it shouldn't matter too much unless the ink is taking too long to dry. It is more likely that your print heads are skimming the paper or something is brushing the image while the ink is still wet.

Ive just bought my camera, ive installed it etc, when i take a picture " card protected " shows, and therefore no pictures save, helpp!!

You didn't specify what make and model camera you have, so I'm going to assume it uses SD and/or SDHC cards.

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Try a hard reset first: Unplug the printer from PC (if connected) and power source for about 5 minutes. Replug and see if this resolves the issue..

Have you tried connecting the camera (with the memory card still inside it) to your PC? You should have a data cable that came with the camera, so instead of removing the card use your camera to download to the PC.

Did you let the camera format the sd card before you took your pictures? Have you tried another sd card? Its possible the pc did not close the card properly so the printer does not see it. I would try another card before going any further. Make sure your setting on the printer is set to read only (in "Other" settings) if at read/write you will not be able to print.

Printer will not read SD card from Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ3

Put the card in an adapter or in your computer. Make sure the pictures are not in folders. The printer is unable to read them if they are.
Also, the file size of the picture cannot be over 8 MB and the image size has to be below 12 megapixels.
