SOURCE: Denon Dual Cassette Deck DRW-660 will not eject either tape
Some dual decks use a common drive belt. It may have become too slack (due to age) to drive mechanism. I am sure its time to change all belts in both decks. This will solve the problem

The deck will need new belts and idler drives cleaned and serviced, and perhaps some idler tyres replaced. You can get a belt kit from these guys. replacing them is not such a difficult job if you have some mechanical aptitude. Just take it slowly, and focus on getting the transport out of the unit.

SOURCE: Cassette Tape stuck
The problem here is that the unit is stuck in a partial position. The "reset" by unplugging and plugging back in usually causes the unit to reset to a known position. If there is no activity (no motor sound), it will need to be opened up and reset manually. If you hear the motor running for a short period, it is attempting to reset, but the belt is most likely worn or broken. These units are relatively simple, but a bit tricky to dis-assemble. This repair should not require anything other than a belt or 2. Figure on $3-$10 for parts plus the local labor rate for the repair.

Hi there
It is probable that the head assembly or pinch roller assemblies are not returning to their correct rest position. The arms that carry the pinch roller assemblies develop dried grease problems in the bearing/post they are mounted to that prevent their timely return and fouling the casette shell preventing eject. Check them by seeing if they are clearing the cassette shell, and are "sprung into the home position with out binding.
I have repaired scores of these decks over the years, and am happy to talk to you more about the problem. Thanks for using FixYa.

PS, the display did later flicker on and power up for a half second, then died again. Illumination behind tape window still on.
