Pioneer Avic Z2. DVD doesn't eject

Hi,

I have a Pioneer Avic Z2. I inserted a dvd and now I can't eject it. DVD plays fine, but I can't take it out. I already hit the reset button and that didn't wrk.

Is there anything I can do if I open the unit? I ran out of warranty.

Thanks

Ok, this is weird. This morning I turned on my car and decided to hit the eject button just for the heck of it.Well, my DVD came out :) I inserted another dics, played it for a while and was able to eject it as well.

No I know for sure there is nothing wrong with my motor, so what could have been the problem? I never opened the unit to clean it up either.

    Thanks

If ever need to clean or align the unit, are there any written instructions on how to do this type of repair?

So when you say to eject manually can you please explain? I'm able to eject my CD's by hitting the eject button with no problem.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, this is not a home DVD player. This is a DVD/Navigation unit in my car.

    Thanks

Hi there,

If you are unable to eject the disk, please try the following steps.

Ensure the child lock feature is disabled.
Attempt to open the disc tray.
If the issue is not resolved, turn off the DVD player.
Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet for 30 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
Attempt to open the disc tray.
If the disc tray still does not open, simultaneously press the POWER + STOP + EJECT buttons.
If the disc tray still does not open, simultaneously press the DISC1 + STOP + EJECT buttons.

if the all above not works means it's a push button switch is malfunction , try use a remote control to eject. if can be eject by remote, probably the PB is dirty. If not maybe the belts or motor problem, there is a tiny drive belt connecting a small motor to the loading tray.when they stretch, they run but do not open the door.if that is the case, putting your ear on the machine while hitting the eject button will enable you to hear the loading motor running inside.if you do not hear anything,it is a different problem

Good Luck!!

Thanks

Well, it seems that there is a try alignment problem.....

you should try ejecting this manually, but do not force it more.....

  • Mukesh Kumar Jul 17, 2009

If the try was out of alignment than no way to repair it, it can be replaced only.....

Most of those optical units have a tiny 'drive' motor for the loading/unloading, and a special rubber belt to connect to the gears. That belt will stretch over time, and all you may need is a new exact replacement.

I installed my pioneer avic z2 DVD/Navi myself and I realized that the wire that connects to the parking break is just a power wire that comes on when u pull the parking break. I think, all you have to do is to connect it to any other power wire that will be constantly provides the on power while driving. I'll try it out tomorrow and let you know!
