I'm trying to find out how to use them i got two Motorola Talkabout T5100 from a yard sale i got both on same channel i push talk and nothing

As a basic test, if you press the transmit button on one, you should hear some sort of response from the other. I suspect your T5100s are defective.

Can talk on walkie but cannot hear others

It can be several things. The type of radio, Business band, Ham or Consumer would help. This problem can happen easily. Depending on the brand and model the procedures are a bit different. The transmit frequency is correct since radios can "hear" you. Your receive frequency, or the CODE is different that the transmit frequency and code. These are two different things and must match the transmit information in order to turn your speaker on. To check, if you know how to put your radio into "monitor", you will be able to hear the other radios when they transmit. Then you know to only change the "code". The other unlikely thing is a blown speaker. 90% of the time it is the programming.

Unable to transmit

The CTCSS codes are probably not set correctly. Baofeng manuals are notoriously hard to read. Look online (Google) alternative programming instructions.

My cb will turn on but i cannot talk to anyone, im getting nothing. Why?

Does it Transmit?? Does meter show transmit?? Can you hear?? If its hearing an transmit gone..it could be Microphone, or speaker, or other more serious problems inside circuit. Change mics and hook up Ext Spkr. If that does not do it, then radio is gone. Buy new radio instead of repairs.

Hi there i have a strange icon in one of my radios

The icon you are describing is the "roger beep" icon. It would not be the reason your radio is not transmitting. Most likely your programming has been changed. Here is a link to the manual where you can read how to program the radio's frequency and interference eliminator code. http://www.giantintl.com/RadioPDFs/Outdated%20Manuals/T5320_T5410_T5420_User_Manual_E.pdf

Roger Beep/Talk Confirmation Tone
When you turn on this feature, your two-way radio transmits a unique tone when you
finish transmitting. It’s like saying “Roger” or “Over” and lets others know you’re
finished talking.
• To enable Roger Beep/Talk Confirmation Tone, press and hold + (plus button) as you turn
your radio On. Now, when you release the PTT button, your set tone lets your
friends know you’re finished talking and will appear on the display.
• To disable the Talk Confirmation Tone feature, turn your radio Off and then back
On while pressing and holding the + (plus) button.

Cobra 19 DX IV out of frequency

I would definitely take it back for a re check. If the radio took a good bump perhaps it can cause it to drift off frequency. Turning the channel while holding his mic keyed does nothing but just throws a dead carrier. No value what soever. RF Gain is just to improve his reception by either lowering or raising the sensitivity of the receiver of the radio. Squelch is to silence the hissing sound you hear when no one is talking. Care must be taken to not to adjust too much or you wont hear anybody. It wont help his transmit audio at all. Recommend you get another Radio Check from someone else. He could be pulling your leg saying you don't sound good. Best regards and hope this helps some......................John.

Muting the sound

Hi,

The sound produced by a Motorola radio when the mike is keyed refers to the "Transmitting Call Tone" which is another feature other than the "Interference Eliminator" or the "Roger Beep" feature.

On most Motorola GMRS/FRS TalkAbout radios, setting the "Call Tone" to 0 disables the feature. This is done with the radio ON by pressing on the "Menu" button 3 times which will result in the display showing the current Call Tone setting (flashing) and the letters CA; pressing on the <- or +> buttons will change selection (you will also hear the different Tones), select 0 (it may be up to 5 or 10 depending on the version). Press on the "Menu" or "PTT" button to set, save and exit.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Motorola FV500 2 way radio can send/cant receive

Do you hear the Beeps on the speaker? Check for the QT and the code squelch are the same in both radios, try to set code squelch in "0". Make sure that the radio is not receiving or the other one is not transmiting, with two radios will see the same.

Hand-held radio

Hello Think you have to make sure that both radios have the correct encode and decode CTSS or DPL, if you dont select the encode for one of them the other one just will light the green led but will not recieve. Also make sure that the speaker is working correctly. Check your programming parameters one by one. Good luck
