How can I access a work email account from my home computer?

Your employer may have or should have a policy prohibiting it.

If it is allowed, you setup an email account on a company computer, you just setup a mail account like on the home computer. Then you can login from your job. Be aware STMP servers only deliver mail once. So if you fetch the mail on your company, you can't read it at home.
Gmail and Yahoo accounts, can be setup in any browser. They keep the mail on the server and you can read the mail from every computer, where you open the account.

Check home email

Hi, Christine -

Without knowing what kind of email service you have, we are at a disadvantage. I've included how both client and webmail work and also offer a workaround for non-webmail access.

If you have 'webmail', then you can check your email from anywhere in the world with internet access. IE: gmail: just go to gmail and sign in with your gmail address and your password. I am assuming, however that your question is not that easy!

If you have non-webmail and you use a client at home like Thunderbird or Outlook, I assume you go into your email client and all your email has been downloaded to your client. Under those circumstances, obviously, you are not able to check this online elsewhere than your home. UNLESS...

You sign into your Verizon account online with your Verizon (example - could be Fairpoint or any other internet service that gives you your email address) and your email is now accessible anywhere you have an internet connection. Keep in mind that you HAVE TO CHECK THAT YOU WANT YOUR EMAILS TO STAY ON THE SERVER ONCE THEY ARE DOWNLOADED or your emails will not be resident on your online account once they go into your pc client at home.

There is another way (and preferable imho). You can create a gmail account and have all your emails from your internet service provider account FORWARD to your gmail account. Then, you can go into gmail anywhere in the world and all your email will be there. You don't even have to worry about making sure emails stay on your server (thereby saving space and not having to clear out your old emails online at your server site)

Hope this helps. Peace. Michele

How do I check my work emails from home

Access Work Email From Home
Sometimes, the regular workday isn't enough time to get your day's work done.
Taking work home has become a way of life for many people.
If you're one of these people, the ability to access your work email from home is essential to your success.

Ask your workplace's technical support department for help to log on from home.
Some offices set up web access to your email from home, and your tech support department can instruct how to take advantage of this service.
One popular way employers provide this is through Microsoft Web Access.
With Microsoft Web Access, you can log in using any web browser and access your email from any web-enabled computer.
If your office uses Outlook for email, ask if you can set up your home computer to access your email through Outlook.
You will need your login information and your incoming and outgoing mail servers from your tech support department.

If your company provides POP or IMAP access, visit mail2web.
From the homepage, enter your email address and password to log in to your email from any web browser.

Set up a free Gmail email account.
If you use Outlook for email at work, you can automatically forward all email you receive to your Gmail account.
Gmail also provides automatic filtering features that enable you to automatically organize incoming mail.

Ask your IT department if remote computer access is available. Once set up, remote computer access lets you work from home by accessing and controlling your work computer.

If your mail account is bound to your provider, they usually have a webmail address where you can access your email account, when you are away from home.

Contact your email provider and ask their support how to enter your email account when you are away from home.

If you have 1 or more web email accounts f.ex. like Yahoo, Hotmail, GMail etc. , you can always acces these accounts anywhere a computer is available. Just use your login and password.

Hope these answers help
