Question about Cell Phones

3 Answers

I am trying to figure out to how change the number of rings on my Norstar Meridian 7310 phone. The phone initally rings to a menu that gives 4 options and we want that initial call to only be 1 ring as opposed to 4. I have searched everywhere and cannot find how to change that.

This did not work, I do have an option for #4 but I did go to personal options and did not have an option for Prompt level.

It is not my individual extension that I wish to change the number of rings on, it's when people call in first, and then just get the "main menu" that gives them choices which extension to pick. This initial call is never answered so I would like to change it to 1 ring instead of 4.

    Thank you.

Thanks, the main phone box is actually in a different office (which causes us nothing but grief) so I will have to check with them next week. I'm pretty sure the staff in the other office won't let me touch anything so I will have to probably call a tech in to fix it.

HERE is the manual

However... the administrator of your Voicemail system controls the number of rings before pickup.
This is not a feature enabled/edited/disabled via the telephone.

If you need more help - don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for using FixYa!! Please accept this answer to remove it from the work queue.

I'm pretty sure you have a main phone box associated with the phone system, it will be a seting you need to change on that. The actual M7310 does not control the automated answering. Please let me know what model you have for the phone box on your PBX and I can track down the actual instructions if need be.

Thanks

Hi there,

First, call your voice mail. After the messages you will be given a menu to follow. went to Personal Options (4) then to Administrative Options (2) and finally Prompt Level (3). After reaching Prompt Level you have the option to shorten or extend the number of rings. At this point chose to shorten the prompt and then exited the system.

Good Luck!!

Thanks

I have a Norstar Meridian with M7310 phones. When calling out using the speakerphone, the microphone doesn't work. When trying to switch to hands-free during a call, it puts the line on hold.

sounds like your telephones not programmed for handsfree.
Programming2.gif is done on 7310, 7324 and 7316 type sets.Enter programming2.gif by pressing the feature key followed by **266344.When prompted to enter the password enter 266344.
The screen should say TERMINALS&SETS. The 4 top line/feature keys are now used for programming.
At the terminals&sets prompt, press the show key (top right arrow). The display should now ask for an extension number. Enter extension number you want to change to handsfree.
Press the show key (top right arrow)
The display should say LINE ACCESS
Press the next key (bottom right arrow) .
The display should say CAPABILITIES.
Press the show key (top right arrow) .
The display say foward no answer.
press the next key 3 times (bottom right arrow)..
The display should say handsfree. Press the show key.(top right arrow) change from none to auto
Press the release key when finished

Every button including feature Meridian 7310 calls to an internal

Sounds like a stuck button.

Do what I call the rake... swipe at the keypad over and over, look to see if there is any button lower or depressed on the keypad or buttons.

Someone may have spilled something on it (cola, coffee), and the set may require to be taken apart if there is a stuck button.

Find free complete user manual for 7310 Meridian Norstar system

The 7310 is a phone model number. The system is going to be a CICS, MICS, or a BCM. If you look on the top corner of the box it should be there. Once you find out the model go to http://pdf.textfiles.com/manuals/TELECOM-F-R/
that should help with documentation.

Nortel Meridian Norstar-Plus Compact ICS with #7310 phones.

I'm pretty sure CID is automatic on a CICS....IF you have a CID trunk card. You might want to post the part number on the face of the trunk and we'll see if it's the proper one.

Phone won't ring. The arrow will flash but no ring. Meridian 7310

you can try to plug it in at a set that does ring and make sure it wokrs there. The programming should not have changed with the phone but ... anything is possible. If it rings at the other location then it will be the programming for that extension. Also check that it is not in DND do not disturb

Trying to add new phones to system

If you plug the phone in and it comes up with a display, then it has an extension.

To find the extension number of the phone, press Feature * 0, the display will say "Inspect" Now just press one of the intercom buttons. It will display the extension number. When done hit end.

Norstar M7310 auto attendant problem

As far as changing the # of rings, that may be your phone company. Feature 983 will get you in to change to number of rings. It goes as follows:
Feature 983
System coordinator mailbox # and password
OK
AA
Lines
Enter Line Number
OK
Table
Rings
CHNG
Enter the desired number of rings
If after changing the number of rings the Auto atendant does not pick up at all, You have to call your phone company and set up the second delay through them. We had the same problem here.
