Question about Dell Dimension 5100 (D51L1) PC Desktop
Daughter blew a breaker yesterday with her hair dryer. PC is on the same circuit. thru a surge protector. this morning. PC won't power on. No light on PC front button. Changed the PC power cord. Tried a known working outlet. No Fan, no activity onside case execpt single green led on motherboard near power supply. Fan in PS not running. Measured 115 volts at end of cord where it mates to case. How can I tell if the Power Supply is shot? Are there any fuses or things to reset inside the Power Supply? The Dell # on the PS is W8185.
Thanks in advance for any guidence.
There are fuses inside psu`s some are solderd and some pop out it i would suggest that u throw the psu away and buy new chances are that it will only cause continues and may even result in
complete mobo failure problems heres a link to a cheap psu http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(3649)400W-P4AMD-quiet-PSU-with-PFC-20-pin-24-pin.aspx or a more upmarket more powerfull http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(11879)ThermalTake-TR2-500W-Black-Silent-ATX-12V.aspx the choice is yours.
