Once it is turned on, and we start using it, the screen all of the sudden goes blank. It does not seem to be related to what particular button we pushed at the time. Once blank, I can bring it back by pushing the power button for a few seconds. When it comes back, it makes the typical sound, too. Any idea of what the problem could be? Thanks for taking the time to respond.

The problem is with the connector contacts inside the hinge. Not sure what it would take to fix it, but probably a pretty penny. Make sure you get an estimate before getting it repaired, sometimes it's just better to buy a good, used one on Ebay, or a new one on sale. I've never heard of a quick "fix" for this problem, maybe someone else has an idea. Good luck.
The vista os has an energy complince control
you can set your laptop to never goto sleep in the system control or it maybe in the monitor control panel but this will not allow it to blank out on ya and save a little time in tasks the haven to restart may be a time for a service update ( I myself just got Vista spv2 Its worken for me so check for updates
I had a similar problem whereas my monitor went to sleep mode after a few minutes. I'm running an HP LP 2065 in dual mode with another HP flat screen. However, I did resolve the issue after resetting the output settings.
How to do that:
right mouse click on the desktop
select graphic options
output to
extended desktop
Maybe some changings/modification will help you too.
Have you tried doing a soft reset? To do a soft reset, use the tip of the stylus to gently press the reset button inside the hole on the back panel of your handheld.
This is straight from Palm Support... 1.Press and hold the UP button on the front panel of your device.
2.While holding the UP button, use an unfolded paper clip, or the reset tool at the tip of your stylus, to gently press the RESET button inside the hole on the back of your device
3.The Palm Computing Platform screen will appear. Release the UP button when you see it.
I had the same issue. What you need to do is to hold the power on/off button than press the reset button. The screen turns off (get black) than the will ask you to make a hard reset (which end up deleting all datas). The Palm will power on like the first time you turned it on after you bought it. Than depending which version you have it will possible ask you which language you will like to have as default. After selecting you neet to setup the rest. If this is done you sync it all data will come back :-)
