SOURCE: OLD SEARS ELECTRIC CHAINSAW SPOROCKET SLIPS WILL NOT CUT

The best way I have found is to remove the sparkplug and rotate crank until the cylinder is down about an inch. Jam quiet a bit of shop cloth down in the plug hole then rotate the shaft until the cloth stops upward movement of the cylinder. Now you should be able to get the nut off. You can also remove the nut with a air impact hammer as the impact action will loosen the nut.

SOURCE: how to remove clutch. McCulloch 438 chainsaw.

I think its an outboard clutch, use this as a guide. A YouTube video shows the procedure using a Husqvarna 350 here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdqkIuVNUQc
1. I cannot find an IPL for your saw, it may require special tools.
2. A length of starter cord or nylon rope may be used instead of the piston stop (retain 6" ± so you can remove it). Make sure the piston is near the top of the cylinder before feeding the cord or it can fall through the exhaust port and be cut when the piston rises.
3. It is probably a left handed thread (tighten it to loosen it).
Let us know how it worked for you. GL

Try your friendly neighborhood chainsaw seller/mechanic. Take a piece of the old hose with you.

Routing runs from fuel tank to carburetor, (if equipped) through carburetor to primer bulb, bulb returns excess to fuel tank.

Need model number for the chain for a McCOLLOUGH EM14ES chain saw. Thank you.

Any good chainsaw shop will make a chain up for you, most hobby machines run a 3/8 050 low profile chain such as 91s or 91sg, the lenght is denoted by the drive link count, 52 54 56 etc

Chain stops when it touchs log

A gas engined saw has a clutch that can slip if overly oiled internally, but electric saws don't use a clutch. Most however, have a safety disconnect to the drive sprocket that shears or otherwise removes power to the chain while the motor runs. The worst problem can be a broken gear within the gearbox and requires dis-assembly to discover. Many modern saws use plastic gears in place of metal ones and are prone to failure. The fact that the chain turns when not under load would seem to eliminate the gearbox, but don't discount that until proven. Hope this helps!

Make sure the saw is pumping oil to the bar and chain and that the chain turns by hand freely. If ok, is there a sheared or missing key between the clutch center hub and the crankshaft?
