Question about Epson Stylus Color 777i InkJet Printer

My printer thinks it is out of paper when it

My printer was working fine until I reloaded it with more than the usual amout of paper. That caused it to make a loud noise as if it was jammed but the paper never moved. Then, the red light came on and wouldn't stop flashing. I turned the printer off for a while, turned it back on but nothing changed. The paper feed mechanism still isn't working. Yes, I put in new ink cartridges just in case they were the problem because the green ink light was on too. Is it time to take it to the dump?

Does anyone know where I can buy a refurbished printer to go with all my ink??

What would cause paper jams in a hp 4100 printer

Where is it jamming. Printer this age could have fuser issues, worn rollers that are not picking up properly. Is the jammed paper crinkled up or does the printer stop before damaging the paper? If paper is not damaged, the cause is usually in the paper pickup slipping and causing the printer to think that the paper is either too long or too short. Clean all the rollers in the paper tray cavity with a damp cloth.

Sounds like the printer is fine. Reset the the printer driver software in your computer by reloading it from the software disks that came with the printer or download it from the manufactures website. Then Reboot both the printer and and computer. Make sure to reconnect all the cables between both units to make sure all the connections are good:)

The paper in the printer is lined up and everything should be working however I need to print things for work and it tells me that it is either jammed or that I need to load/ reload the paper. I can't...

I have found over the years that printers really don't lie. If it says there is a paper jam there usually is. I have completely taken apart a large laserjet printer to find a very tiny piece of paper causing the problem. Also if you run sticky labels through printers they have a tendency to leave residue or even part of a label behind which will cause the printer to tell you there is a jam. Check your printer very carefully, use some canned air to blow it out. You may need a printer repair person to come out and take it apart to look for possible stuck paper.

My Printer says "No Paper... Reload paper in MP tray." there is paper in the tray... and it won't print. Help?

This is sort of scenario is usually caused by dust inside the printer. Dust has a way of preventing the sensors from detecting paper. Also it prevents the rollers from having a firm grip on the paper while picking paper. I will suggest you get a long handle brush and try to reach as far inside the printer as possible and brush (from the back and front). This, if properly done should do it. Rush especially the rollers etc.

The printer is feeding a blank sheet of paper between printed sheets. How do I rectify this?

This causes the printable area on the page to be that much less (10 3/4 or 10 1/2 on an 11 inch page). The software thinks the paper is 11 inches long and keeps track, down to the micro inch, where it is on the paper. When it reaches the 10 1/2 inches, your printer calls the page done and ejects it. However, the software thinks there is still another 1/2 inch to print (usually the footer area). Now when you insert a new sheet of paper, the software finishes printing the rest of the page (normally a blank footer) and form feeds to the next sheet. To correct what the software thinks the paper size is, you need to run the Preferences application and change the default settings. Select the Printer button. In the next window, select the 'Change Defaults....' button. Change both the Document size and the Paper size to a height of 10.875 and click OK. Try a new document to see if the paper size is correct. You may need to go back and change the height a few times until it is correct (the height changes in .125 increments). Usually either 10.875 (for 1/4 inch forced top margin printers) or 10.75 ( for 1/2 inch forced top margin printers) will work.

Try cleaning the paper rollers with alcol to remove impregnated ink which causes the roillers to become shiny. It is failure to grip the paper that usually causes this. use a plastic pot scourer to gently roughen the platten roller to allow it to grip better.

Printer was printing fine ran out of paper reload paper but it will not pick up the paper now a yellow light comes on and it says load MPF letter Plain 1 024-969

I don't know this specific printer but have seen many printers mishandle the last sheet of paper causing a jam and leaving pieces behind when forcibly removed from the paper path.
You might try peering into the paper tray slot to see if there are any obstructions. Different printers use different methods of sensing 'paper out' and yours may use a mechanical flag that interrupts a photo sensor that really detects on the passage of the sheet and if this is impeded in some way, it may just think it's out of paper.
