RS V3 Error 1117 - does not detect microphone

I found the solution once and had to make some changes through the command prompt. It is not a simple settings adjustment that can be made through control panel menus. Unfortunately, my computer crashed and had to rebuild. Now I can't find the article with the solution.

I have finally found a solution! I found it by chance on the rosetta stone troubleshooting page. I have nod 3 antivirus + firewall and in the firewall settings the rosetta stone application was blocked (it was denied internet access). I just deleted it from the list and the next time rosetta stone asked for internet access I clicked yes. Now rosetta stone detects both my dynamic microphone and my usb headset and it works fine. Hope this works for everybody.

Thanks a lot. This was really the reason of the error. COMODO Firewall was blocking Rosetta every time.

    Hi Miro85:

I found out more specifics for a solution.

I am running Vista Home Premium (32-bit), McAfee Total Protection, and Rosetta Stone Version 3. I limit my children's use of Rosetta Stone through a Vista User account that has Windows Parent Controls restrictions.

Consequently, Rosetta Stone gives the 1117 error.

To solve the problem, I called Rosetta Stone customer service. They attempted a solution with a registry fix. That didn't work.

I removed Windows Parental Controls. That didn't fix it.

Finally, I gave removed McAfee restrictions to the internet. Now Rosetta Stone worked.

So, I went back and used McAfee to completely restricted internet access. This time, however, I allowed a browser access to one site: Rosetta Stone Homeschool Edition still worked.

Finally, I added back all of my Windows Parental Controls. Rosetta Stone still works!

I have all the restrictions back except that I have given access to one web site.

Rosetta stone doesn't detect mic on windows 7

I started to had problems with RS after I made some changes due to the error 2123, especifically, problems with the compatibility mode in RosettaStoneVersion3.exe

So. Go to Program Files-->Rosetta Stone folder-->RosettaStoneVersion3.exe. Right click on this file, Properties, Compatibility, and click on "Run this program with compatibility for Windows 7" (and check the box 'run this program as administrator').

I use Windows 7 x32. After this, RS came back to life, and I was able to use my headset with it too.

Hope it helps!

How to restore a troublesome iPhone 3G!

If you have an iPhone 3G that is causing you problems or errors when you are trying to restore then hopefully this information can be useful to you.

If you are struggling to get your computer or iTunes to recognize your iPhone then put the device into recovery mode. To put the device into recovery mode, plug the iPhone into your computer, open iTunes, then hold the sleep button and the home button together for ten seconds before releasing the sleep button. Contine to hold the home button until iTunes pops up and tells you that a device has been detected that needs restoring.

Click restore and iTunes will download and restore the latest firmware to your device for you. Once the restore completes you can set up a new phone or restore al settings from a backup of a previous phone.

If after restoring you get an error message and your iPhone displays a plug into computer logo then we must go through some more steps to get your iPhone going.

This section is for users of 32 bit Windows, which is the majority of people. Download the iRecovery and libusb-32 package and install the libusb-32 file. Move the irecovery.exe file to C:irecoveryirecovery.exe

From your start menu go to Run and type cmd. Press enter and you will be presented with a black box with a command prompt. At the command prompt type C:irecoveryirecovery.exe -s and press enter.

Once your iPhone has been found you will have another command prompt. Now type the following commands:

setenv auto-boot true

Once again reboot your iPhone, holding sleep button and power button until the Apple logo displays, this time your phone should boot up into the normal iPhone interface.

With a bit of luck you have just restored your iPhone 3G!

I got a toshiba satellite l655d and it was working fine, two days ago i tried to start it up and it didn't, the screen returned an error (File:\Boot\BCD Status:0xc000102 , info: An error ocurred while...

When the TOSHIBA splash screen is displayed or when you first turn on your computer, a boot menu prompt may be displayed for a few seconds near the bottom of the screen, indicating that a key (F2 or F12, for example) can be pressed to display a menu of boot options. The time allowed for detecting the keypress is very brief, so you'll need to be both prepared and quick.

On some models this prompt reads Press F12 for boot menu. On others, it may say Press C to boot from CD-ROM. On still others, there may be a row of colored icons representing the various boot devices (HDD, FDD, CD, LAN, PCMCIA, etc.) Press "F12" or "C" while these icons are displayed, and then use the arrow keys to move the cursor from one to another. As new models are released, the wording of these prompts may change.

Now if above steps works for you then it will start booting up from CD and then we have a shot to fix the problem you have with a simple command.

Once the computer boots up fine, go to the screen which says "Install Now". On this screen, look at the bottom left corner, you will see "repair your computer". Select this option & Choose your keyboard & language on next screen.

It will take you to the screen which will have 5 options:

Startup Repair: This option can repair the booting up problems automatically.

System restore: It startup repair doesn't works, Try this option to restore your computer to the day it was working.

Memory Optimizer: This is used to diagnose any problems with memory.

Complete PC restore: With this option, we can restore our computer to the factory settings. Performing this will result in loose of all data and software installed but it will bring everything back which you got preinstalled with your device.

Command prompt: In this option you can try some advanced command line instructions to fix the errors.

First let's try the best option "Command Prompt" to fix your problem:

>>Select "Command Prompt".

Type Bootrec /RebuildBcd, and then press ENTER.

  • If the Bootrec.exe tool runs successfully, it presents you with an installation path of a Windows directory. To add the entry to the BCD store, type Yes. A confirmation message appears that indicates the entry was added successfully.

Write protected and disk not found are the typical messages that a pc gives when you try to access a memory stick in which the actual memory chip has died. Nothing more can be done to fix it - it's dead. Junk it.

Although the BIOS in this old machine has a boot from cd option, it is quite possible the DVDrom drive simply doesn't support the feature. Many P2 machines were like that. Chances are you will need a bootable DOS/WIN95/WIN98 floopy which will allow you to get it running with a CD driver.

Once you have this accomplished you can simply use the command prompt with cd support boot option and use the command prompt to load the installer on the CD. Once it finishes it's initial setup it will be able to use the cd drive for everything BUT booting.

Hope this Helps FixYa,
