Block off the cells (or row or column) in question, right-click and choose FORMAT CELLS. In the NUMBER tab, choose TEXT. This will make your dates appear exactly as they are typed, and not allow Excel to reformat them.

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Hi, I am trying to change an excel spreadsheet. There are unit numbers on the spreadsheet which have converted themseles to dates ie 4/52 has now become Apr-52. I have tried everythiong to change it but...

Right-click the cells and go to 'Format Cells'. Then, select the correct format. If you're wanting to leave the slash (/) in the number, you'll probably have to make it a text format.

Need to have a certain cell say OFF when it is a certain day

Use the test function.
Formula in cell A1 would be =text(a2,"dddd").
This would pick up the date from cell A2 and return the day of the week in cell A1.

I had data on sheet one and for same the text format on another i want to copy data in the sheet having text format for particular cell reference which is there on first sheet

Try using "Paste Special". Select the data you want to copy. Position your cursor on the new sheet. Select Edit / Paste Special. Try the "Values and number formats". If that doesn't copy all the formatting you want, on the second time select "Formats". I often do this as a two step process: do a normal cut and paste, then go back and do a "Paste special" selecting "Formats" to get the formatting correct.

Excel see a cells format as having four Sections. These are, from left to right: Positives;Negatives;Zeros;Text.

To hide zeros cell-by-cell use a Custom Number Format like 0.00;-0.00; where 0.00 is desired format for non zeros. Note the use of -0.00 for negatives.

To hide zeros on the Workbook level go to Tools>Options>View - Zero Values.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly...

Do you want to sort an existing excel worksheet?
Or do you want to change a cell value depending on the class of students.
You can use if for the latter.
Otherwise just use sorting in excel.

Please explain what you want to do exactly...

Forgot password to open Excel sheet

If you mean that you can open the Workbook and read the Worksheet - then all you have to do is select all and paste it to another Worksheet. This will allow for changes of formulas etc.

If you mean the whole Workbook - then I dunno.

In future, either use the same password for everything (easy to remember) or Protect the work with nothing entered into the password field (leave this blank). This last will protect the work from people who try to guess your password, but will be easy for you to remember - eg every password is left blank.

If you must use unique passwords, then keep a record of them somewhere other than on your computer.

Sorry I can't help with the "Workbook" solution - but somebody else out ther may be able to do so.
