If you truly want to delete the recovery partition (which I do not suggest by the way) right click on the my computer icon and click manage. Then click on disk management. find the d drive and right click on it in the bottom pane and right click and format

The user before me made several (15) backups each one created a, I backup set file, with extention *.nb7. each one is 170meg or larger and I need space, can I just delete these nb7 files and not crash

It is safe to delete these files. (however)

The question is, will you need any of the backup data in the future? If this is a company PC, I would get an external drive and move the backups instead of deleting them.

Need command prompt for Acer Aspire

The Windows Backup and Restore feature allows you to save files and system images to external backup devices such as hard drives and flash drives. However, backing up files become problematic if the directory your backing up files from isn't configured properly, or if you're having issues with the devices you're backing files to. There are ways to solve or work around backup problems quickly and safely.

Hard Drive b> A backup will not complete if the files you're backing up exceed the amount of space left on the external hard drive. If you're backing up large system files, Microsoft recommends saving the backup to an external hard drive that can hold at least 200 GB. If you're running out of space, you must delete content to create space for others or use another hard drive. Error Codes In some cases, Windows displays the following error codes when it's unable to complete a backup: "0x80070001 (Invalid Function)" or "0x81000037: Windows Backup failed while trying to read from the shadow copy on one of the volumes being backed up." These error messages usually appear if Windows is unable to backup a specific library or if you opt out of adjusting your backup settings and settle for the default settings in the Windows Backup and Restore Feature. Reparse Point b> If you're unable to backup a specific library and run into error code messages, removing the reparse point allows you to complete the backup. A reparse point is a file that contains information about the user on a computer. If it doesn't point to a location that contains some of the data you want to backup, error messages appear when you try to back up your files. Type "CMD" in the Start Search box to open the Command Prompt. In the Command Prompt, typing "DIR /AL /S" and pressing Enter lists the reparse points. Each entry says "JUNCTION," which also means reparse point. The entries also tell you the location of the reparse points in Windows Explorer. If you locate a specific reparse point in Windows Explorer, delete its mounted volume from the device's Properties. Once deleted, you should be able to back up your files. Discs b> If you're backing up files to a disc, you'll run into problems if the discs are non-rewritable and already contain data, or if they are severely scratched or damaged. Non-rewritable discs can only be used once, while rewritable discs can be used to read and write data several times. If the CD or DVD you're using is severely scratched, the optical disc drive spins harder than usual in an attempt to read it. If it's incapable of reading the disc, the backup feature may freeze or display an error.
Windows backup or restore errors 0x80070001, 0x81000037, or 0x80070003

When i try to transffer data to the sandisk sd 2gb card im getting 0x8007045d error help please

it is because your card is formated as FAT ( this means that you can only store small files on it ). To fix this do the following 1. open my computer 2. right click on th sd card 3. press format 4. in format select fat32 instead of fat 5. click format (you will lose all data currently on the card) 6. when it is finished you should be able to copy files onto it

Backup failed--a shadow copy could notbe created, insufficent storage available to.create a shadow copy storage file, or other shadow copy data.------ox800423if

The drive you are trying to backup to has run out of space, you need to make sure your backup drive/partition has enough room available for the backup your trying to run.

The hard drive is in the red and in reporting to be almost full but I have very little information stored on the hard drive. What is causing this?

This problem can be caused by any missing/corrupt hard drive driver files. You can try the following :

1. Copy ur important files in that partition/hard drive to other partition/pen drive/external drive.

2. Complete Format (not Quick Format) that hard drive.

I am receiving the following message when I attempt to access my Western Digital My Book 500 GB: "Ox8007045D I/O Device error" I can see that my photos are still there but cannot open them or copy into the...

Happened to me too in both file backup and computer backup. I supposed MS will address in the future. For now, go to the system settings and unchecked the drives so they no longer create shadow copies . Apply the new settings to erase all existing shadow copies. Then reset by checking the boxes you unchecked. Now try to backup the whole computer again. It appears a shadow copy error is conflicting with the backup process. Once you delete all shadow copies (restore points) it will work.

Back up

You could do one of the following:
  1. When you check C:\, make sure that ALL the folders are checked. There may also be an option in the options menu that says something similar to "backup system files", etc. Make sure that is CHECKED.
  2. You can go online and search for either free or commercial backup programs that will backup EVERYTHING.
  3. If you are doing a daily, weekly, or frequent backup (as in your not trying to move your data or reformat your hard drive), you should swith to Shadow Copies, which makes a shadow-copy of your Hard Drive. It takes up WAY less space, and takes a virtual copy of your computer.
That is all the help I can give. A link to how to back up and free backup software can be found here: http://free-backup.info/
