I am trying to uninstall my Lexmark X4270, but an error message keeps telling me it is in use and cant be uninstalled until the print job is done,, but I know it is not in use,. How do I uninstall it?

You will need to go into your printers folder find the ip address of the device ensure it doesnt have any jobs in que, uncheck the ip address and change to LPT1 then go into file at the top of your printer folder server properties Ports, find the ip address of the printer and delete it then hit the drives tab at the top of the server properties page and delete the driver for the printer also, this should resolve your issues.

Try to uninstall your existing X4270 printer driver from your computer. On your computer, go to Start menu > Programs > Lexmark X4200 Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. After the uninstall process, reboot pc when prompted.
Please visit the Lexmark website to download and re-install the Lexmark X4270 Printer Driver on your computer. Select your operating system > click on "FILTER" > click on the driver under Recommended Downloads > download and execute the file. Simply follow the instructions on your computer screen to complete the installation. Try to print again to verify that the installation is successful.

Printer shows job in progress so cannot uninstall


Make sure there are no print jobs stuck in the print queue so you can successfully uninstall the printer from your computer. You can try this approach:

1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET STOP SPOOLER (this will stop the print spooler service)

2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files.

3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET START SPOOLER (this will restart the print spooler service)

4. Double click the printer icon in the lower-right corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View -> Refresh.



When the print queue is cleared, try to uninstall again.

Trying to install software for x4270 into new machine with Windows 7. Tells me software not available in English. Was previously installed with XP in old machine with no problems. Any ideas?


Uninstall the existing Lexmark X4270 printer driver from your Windows 7 by going the Start menu ? Programs ? Lexmark 4200 Series ? Tools ? Uninstall. Reboot pc when prompted. When pc turns on, check if your Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system by going to the Start menu ? right-click on Computer ? click on Properties. Take note of the system type.
Download and install the X4270 driver for Windows 7 using the links below:

Drivers won't download


You may have a driver conflict error. Tell me, are you going to device manager and completely uninstallin old driver before reinstalling?

Cartridge Error 50C
Your print cartridge has shorted.
  1. Power off your All-in-One and unplug it.
  2. Plug in your All-in-One again and turn it on.
  3. Uninstall and then reinstall your cartridges.If this does not resolve the issue then try the next steps.
  1. Power off your All-in-One.
  2. Use both hands to lift up the scanner unit until the scanner support holds it open.
  3. Turn the All-in-One on. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.
  4. Remove the color print cartridge.
  5. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  6. If the error message reappears, replace the black print cartridge with a new print cartridge.
    If it does not repeat steps 1-3 and then go to step 7.
  7. Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black print cartridge.
  8. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  9. If the error message occurs again, replace the color cartridge.
  10. If an error message reappears, repeat steps 1-3 and reinstall both print cartridges.
  11. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  12. If you receive the error message again, replace both cartridges.

Lexmark X4270 won't install


if possible try a different wire or usb port
check if there is a usb conflict
