Question about Pioneer AVIC-N2 Car DVD Player

Cannot get DVD recorder to accept discs any more

My DVD-HR753 has worked well since I bought it in August 2007. Now it will not accept discs, saying that they are unsuitable for recording although they are the same ones I have successfully used before. I have tried 5-6 discs, new from the pack but all have been rejected. Thus I can record onto the hard drive but cannot copy recordings onto discs. I can play pre-recorded discs. I have tried unplugging the DVD and starting again, but the problem remains. Can you suggest anything I can do to get it to accept DVDs again?

I have the uv8 phase linear and burnt cds wont play only store b

I had the same problem - its because when you burn the disc, you don't use up all the recording time; and the read light on the player is so sensative that if there is any unused time, it will not accept the disc. So, make sure your recording time exceeds the disc space, and make sure the last song you burn is not your favorite because it will cut off midway through the song.

DVD player will not play disc.

If you are loading a store bought DVD and that it what it say's. The transport needs to be replaced. roughly 150-200. If you are loading "burned" DVD's the format may be wrong and the unit cannot read it. Best suggestion I can give you is to first buy a "Laser Lens Cleaner" on that uses fluid. Any electronics store sells them for 15-20. Run it thru the unit a couple of times then try a clean, store bought DVD. If it plays, problem solved. With your DVD's, if you have any liquid car polish like mother's or meguiars, put a couple drops on the disc and spread around with your finger, let it set a couple then buff off with a microfiber towel. This works wonders for old scratched cd's and dvd's and helps protect new ones from getting scratched. As for the Lens cleaner, run it thru every product you have that uses discs 3 or 4 times a year, it's the best preventative maintance and only maintanance you can do on a CD player DVD or PC. Hope this helps

Your laser eye is dirty or out of alignment. If you know how to clean it then do it, if not buy a cleaning kit for around $20. If that wouldn't fix it then have someone who know re-align it. Goodluck.

I have found that copied dvd's don't always work properly and even the slightest blemish or scratch renders it inop also it is illegal to sell a copied disc as it infringes copyright, I understand that the genuine disc's are expensive but you get what you pay for.

"please check disc" ??? it's AVX 2404

This sounds like a dirty laser lens issue. try using a DVD lens cleaner disk if the disk does not work use a manual fiber optic cleaning kit with sponge swabs and fiber optic cleaning solution. These can be obtained from any electronic parts store (not radio shack).

No audio, and error 6

Okay, I'll throw out the "is the disc upside down???" question...

If not, and you are using a regular store bought CD or DVD ( I think I've seen error 6 when using some homemade discs)then maybe the player's lens needs cleaning. There are DVD/CD lens cleaners out there. See if that helps. Maybe pressing the reset button if nothing else helps?
