I went to take a shower this morning and the water was ice cold. For more than twenty minutes the water ran and never warmed up. Are there common things to check my hot water heater for in this situ

There is an adjustment knob to control how hot the water can become. There might be a problem at the tap (however, if this is the case, you would still get hot water everywhere in the house). If the entire house isn't getting hot water, and the knob is set at the hottest water, you probably need to get the hot water tank replaced.

Can't take a bath!

The diverter can become clogged with mineral deposits. The handle will have to be removed to gain access to the diverter. The diverter can then be disassembled as necessary to determine what needs to be done to free it up.

Push Pull Shower Valve also off in middle position

If you turn it to left or right (hot or cold) and get water out of the shower head,we'll elimate cloged shower head.If it just doesnt work in the middle ,probily a washer is stuck in your diverter,or to better understand>a part inside your shower knob assembly is clogging the water that goes up to your shower head. If you get water out of the shower head in the just cold possition or just hot position, then you will have to dissasemble the unit to repair. If you get no water in the cold or hot position could just be a clogged shower head.If you dont know how to disasemble a Shower diverter ,I wouldn't recommend taking it apart. Hope this helped!

We have a tuscany/Asti tub and shower faucet and we just installed it and when we turn it on the water starts coming out of the shower, without pulling the knob for the shower to turn on. Any ideas?

The knob is most likely binding or just stuck a little try putting a drop or two or oil, WD-40, or even cooking oil on the knob shaft, work the shaft up and down to spread the oil and see how it goes. Worse case you have a cracked knob shaft and then you will have to take it back where you bought it or see if they can give you a knob shaft and replace it, as I said worse case scenario. Good Luck...

Middle valves not sending the water to shower head

the diverter screw has come loose in the diverter stem. It is the center knob that turns on
the shower. If it is american standard, they were noted for this. You may want to shut off
water to the shower itself at the shutoffs but USUALLY not necessary as long as you dont
bump the hot/cold knobs while removing the diverter stem.

Remove the cover and or screw from the handle and remove it.
then remove the decorative escutcheon cover and tube by unscrewing
it counterclockwise.
(There may be a small set screw on the underside of the cover to loosen)

The stem unscrews counter clockwise as well and may take a small pipe wrench to loosen
Sometimes the screw becomes lodged in behind the seat and requires patience and a
pick to extract it (a short burst of water may eject it into the tub). Sometimes part of
the stem body becomes lodged in the manifold but can be removed with an internal pipe
wrench set (home depot carries them for about 12 dollars).

I have an american standard shower knobs for cold and hot with a center control that directs to shower. Tub faucet leaks. How do I fix this?

Pull the knob off...usually the screw is behind a cover in the center of the knob...
Behind the knob you will find a nut that is the packing nut ... this is what keeps the water from running out around the stem...turn that nut clockwise a quarter to a half turn or until snug...
this iwll fix your leak...

Shower head and bathtub faucet both running when showering

Sounds like diverter valve which is your shower handle valve is bad take it apart and check out and replace it if possible because that transfer water to shower head.
