From what I have seen of these the most common problems are due to failing output caps for the +5v rail and -5v rails, causing ripple voltage the tops of these have a tendancy to bulge with the lack of cooling.
Replacing the 2 caps 1 x 2200uf 10v (105degree) and 1x 47uf 10v (105degrees) should solve the problem.

The internal (replaceable) power supply has failed. If you are good at fixing things - soldering, etc. - you can replace the power supply with a Digikey part #285-1779-ND (KMD15-55)

Just be careful and mount it to the top aluminum cover with epoxy.

Repairing power connector inspiron 2200

The connector is special to Dell, and not generally available. You may need to purchase a new power supply. The connector has 3 concentric terminals, and one is used to 'ID' the power supply as genuine DELL. A plain DC connector can be used, but the batterys will not charge.

Tripp Lite KVM monitor light doesn't come on anymore .....

Hello,

The switch may be the problem but it also may be the monitors internal power supply. To check you can open the case by the little switch and remove the plunger ( the little pin that moves up and down) If you get a picture back then the switch is the problem and you will have to bend the flat spring up to give it a little more movement. I would be if the monitor is about 2-3 years old that the problem is in the power supply board. After a few years many LCD monitors have issues with the power boards blowing capacitors. It happens on desktop monitors and rack mount units too. If you have an external power adapter for the monitor check the voltage output and replace if it is not steady. If the power supply is internal to the monitor then you will need to open the case and check the capacitors for heat damage. Check our site at:
www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm for pictures of what to look for. Replace any that look like the pictures and you should be back going again. The values that you will need are going to be marked on the sides of the bad caps. Be sure to use a high temp replacement or the problem will be back in a month or two. If yo don't want to do the repair yourself we do offer a repair service of the monitor for $40 plus return shipping. If you have any questions just let me know.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Need power supply for Hp 336044-B21 KVM Switch. (DVE Switching Power Supply, Model DSO-142L) in the last two month I lost three same switches with the same problem - power supplies...

There are a few things that you can do. First; try to go online to HewlettPackard.com and locate the power supply. Second;go online to ebay and search for the power supply. Last;locate a Batteries R Us store in your city. They have a huge supply of batteries and power adapters. If you do not find a HP adapter the store person can help you find one that is complimentary to your HP adapter.

  • HP II/III series most likely cause is the ac power module is defective. Order the HP II/III Service 50 Error Repair Kit. If the quartz fuser lamp is burned out, order the replacement fuser on specials page. Slight possibility of loose connector on DC controller. See tweaking page DC controller could also be defective, but this is very rare.

You might have a bad power supply. If you have a voltmeter, check the voltage of the standby power supply. This voltage is present even if the system is off, plugged in. It powers a small portion of the logic circuit. It should measure within a couple of tenths of exactly +5 volts. If it is low, or high, this will prevent turn-on. The purple wire of the 24 pin connector is what carries this to the motherboard. The color coding layout is found at http://pinouts.ru/Power/atx_v2_pinout.shtml If by chance this voltage is OK, then check the full on voltages also. Repair of the defective supply is probably by replacement of one or more small electrolytic capacitors in the appropriate circuit, especially if you are technically savvy. Capacitors are available through several suppliers; Digi-Key supplyies Panasonic FC series which are suitable for switching power supplies. Or, you may just replace the whole unit.
