I just had this problem with my HP Pavilion dv9005us Notebook PC, and the problem is one of two things (that I know).

  1. Your'e Laptop's battery is completely empty, and needs to be plugged in to charge for an hour or two
  2. Or your laptop cord is broken, or isn't working properly.
For me, it was the secon problem. I went online searching for answers as to where I could buy a new cord for my Laptop. My previous one was universal, as the one that came with the notbook was chewed by my puppy. So Staples Canada, (or US) and Futureshop where the only places I could but this cord. They had the laptops on one wall, and the cords underneath them. In total, I paid $112.00, $89.99 plus tax, and $10 for an extended 2 year unlimited warranty. It sucked forking out the money, but I knew that I could trust the HP brand, and now have a working laptop.

Hope this helped (:

My HP Pavillion Laptop is not turning on. Whenever I press the on button the tiny lightning sign under the screen flashes 3 times but the computer does not turn on!

The lightning bolt you describe is the laptop trying to accept a charge, I'd also look at the charger, if the led on the charger is blinking, there is a fault on the mobo charging circuit ( power not being able to complete a circuit)

If you are lucky it could be the powerboard button connection to the motherboard, remove the powerswitch cover carefully and check for broken or crimped connections.

If removing the battery and running on ac power alone will not work, you may have a faulty dc port, and will need to replace it ( cheap enough).

After that, the indications are that there is a more serious fault on the motherboard.

How do i turn off the flash on the cannon power shot a530

Press the Flash button (the top part of the circular "joystick" button, marked with a lightning bolt) to cycle through the options. You can choose from Auto with red-eye reduction, Auto, Flash on with red-eye reduction, Flash on, and Flash off. You want the lightning bolt in a circle with a slash through it.

Flash wont work and lightning bolt flashes when trying to take the picture

The flashing lightning bolt is your camera telling you it's trying to charge the flash but can't get enough power from the battery. Is the battery old...been charged many times...neglected and left to completely discharge? Any of these things can reduce the capacity of a battery.

The flash will not work. I think something needs to be reset but not sure how to do that.

On the Navigaton direction button on the back of the camera the "Right direction" button has a little lightning bolt sign.

Repeatedly press this button while the camera is in picture taking mode to go through the flash settings sequence. (Watch the display while pressing this button)
Settings:
1 No Flash, Lightning bolt circled with slash across it.
2 Auto Flash, Lightning bolt with an "A" beside it.
3 Auto RedEye remover, includes an "eye" symbol.
4 Flash Always On, Lightning bolt alone.
5 Unknown, I don't know what the S mode is, I haven't used that one before (something to do with ISO virtual film speed setting).

Have fun.
Hope this was helpfull.308b6a1.jpg

When i push the power button on my compaq 3000 it and the lightning bolts flash 3 times and then nothing , i have a brand new cord and battery

There seems to be a problem with charging your battery. Please remove the battery, connect the power adapter and turn on your PC. If it works, test with battery alone. If possible, check your battery in a simliar laptop to make sure if there's a problem in the battery.

Flashing lightning bolt on Compaq C300

This sounds like a battery problem. The best way to test this is to remove the battery and then power the laptop up with just the power cord plugged in but no battery. If the computer boots then the battery is bad you will need a replacement. Also try letting the battery charge for a day. Be sure that the charging light is coming on when you have it plugged in.

Flashing device status light

Ok the lightning bolt is your power indicator: solid green-charging, Flashing green-fully charged, flashing red-low battery, flashing red three times the once green-bad battery. the "trash can" looking one is your hard drive activity indicator it will flash while your hard drive is reading and writing.

Turning off the flash

This camera has four flash modes and each time you press the button the mode changes. As you press the button you should see the indictor in the upper left side of the screen.
1. In automatic flash, the camera will decide if you need flash or not. This mode does not have any indicator on the screen
2. Forced flash, this will cause the flash to be constantly on. The indicator looks (kind of) like a lightning bolt.
3. Slow Syncro, this mode slightly delays the flash and is used to lighten up the background more the foreground. The indicator looks like the lightning bolt with SL next to it.
4. No flash, this will turn off the flash. The indicator looks like a lightning bolt enclosed by a circle with a diagonal line through the lightning bolt. (similar to a no parking sign).
The mode you want is the circle and diagonal slash over the top of the lightning bolt.
If you don’t see the indictor changing on the screen the switch behind the button is malfunctioning.

Flash pops up but does not flash

Turning the Flash Off and On: 1. With the camera in any user set, repeatedly press the Flash/ISO button on the lens barrel until the flash cancel icon (a lightning bolt in a circle with a slash through it) is displayed on the control panel and screen. 2. When finished, to return to the default setting, press the Flash/ISO button until AUTO and the lightning bolt icon are displayed on the control panel and no flash icon is displayed on the screen. If it still doesnt help: 1. Check that batteries are fresh. 2. Check that camera hasn't been set for no-flash mode. 3. Give the flash time to charge before pressing shutter.
