The problem is in the power supply, the most common cause is an open fuse and open capacitors, if the set is more than 10 years old consideration should given in replacing the tv especially if a professional gets involved.
This tv have two power ICS left side of the FBT-The Flyback Transformer. The big black block of plastic with a red wire with a cap hook to a CRT(tv tube).Replaced those 2 power ICS,tv will solved this LED power light flashing,tv will have stable power again,tv will work.
phillips has the same problem but if your tv actually turns on it could be a short or just a fuse sonys a better tv than phillips should be an easy fix call a repir guy going price for that problem is 75.00 dont pay any more than that. the economy is bad everyone needs the work be smart. make sure if you say yes to the work that the repair guy will waive the consultaion cost of usually 35 to 75 dollars, if you chose to have the work done.
Turning your tv off did not cause this issue, so don't blame yourself for that. A 6 or 7 blink shutdown is because one of the two switch mode power supply control ic's have failed. the part number on them is mcz3001. They are located on the "D" baord, i don't recommend replacing this yourself because even with a tv unplugged from the wall high voltages still exist in the set.
A repairman may preform one of the two following things, he may change the whole D board or he may replace the individual components. The repair will cost around $200 if they replace the components, and if they replace the board it will cost more.
This is often caused by a faulty transistor, they breakdown over a period of time and can continue to work by shcok treatment ( like unplugging etc) but eventually collapse. The srvice center for your Sony may repair it or replace the whole board to the video section. Its a Bravia so expect a pretty expensive callout, somewhat cheaper to take it to a technician in this case
Our set turns itself off by itself. Prior to this happening, it goes to a green screen. It usually happens after the set has been on for a couple of hours. We bought the set in April, 2004 and the warrantly has now expired. The longer we keep the set on, the more it turns itself off. Is this a tuner, on/off problem or the tube? Any estimates for repair?
