The low oil pressure warning lamp will illuminate anytime the ignition switch is turned to the ON position without the engine running. When the engine is running, the light also illuminates if the engine oil pressure drops below a safe oil pressure level. To test the system, perform the following:
If the oil pressure light does not work, perform the following:
To diagnose an oil pressure light that stays on, perform the following:
WARNING
If the oil pressure light remains on while the engine is started, stop the engine immediately. Do not operate the engine until the cause of the problem can be determined. Operating an engine with low oil pressure will cause severe internal damage.
Possible causes for an oil pressure light to stay on are:
Pinched or grounded sensor wireDefective oil pressure sending unitRestricted or severely leaking oil filterExcessive internal engine bearing clearance.Insufficient or severely contaminated engine oilBlocked oil pump pickup screen or severely worn oil pump

The sending unit is the likely culprit if you are getting appropriate oil pressure. I am not sure where the sending unit is on this vehilce but a quick phone call to a dealer will solve that problem.
If I can be of any more assistance please let me know.
Have a great day

Same part...make sure you get one for gauge, not idiot light though. If the engine has any knocking or ticking when pressure drops do not drive it and have a mechanical gauge installed to check actual pressure. Parts often have different names for same item...your driveshaft is actually called a propeller shaft!!!

It is a possibility but I would check for sure. The oil gauge on that unit is electric not mechanical, you need to remove the sender or find a oil hole port on the side of the block and test the oil pressure to be sure it has oil pressure, if it is then it could be the sender or the wires going to the computer control. 2005 may be under warranty, however do not drive it till you know for sure. I don't remember if they still had the kill switch on that year or not, if the switch was reading zero the engine would not start so it could be something simple like a corded wire or as you said the sending unit. Hope this helps and if you need more help write back or do a chat or e-mail to get more help. You can look up the part at www.advanceauto.com and see what it looks like and get the price list for the thing and look to see if it has one two or three wires before you ever open the hood. if it's a three wire it has a kill switch if it's two it's not. if it's one it gets the signal from the computer and your problem may be the computer. However I don't know if it is still under warranty or not and weather you want to fix it or not. Let me know if you need more help. If you need the procedure for removal please respond to this post. Thanks for using fix-ya. I hope this helped.
