My fiance was able to somehow get the switch back to the high position and it's working now. We'll be leaving it there for good.

SOURCE: Brush won't spin when position of handle changes

The belt for this machine is very specific and only one size fits. It is not uncommon for vac shops to sell the wrong belt because the proper belt is not available from normal supply houses, so they will substitute something they think will work.

Also, assuming you do have the right belt, check the tension arm that drops down on the v-belt when the handle is brought back. This arm has a wheel/bearing with a plastic "tire" or trim that rolls on the belt to tighten it. Sometimes, this tire cracks and falls off and then the remaining bearing won't have the necessary tension to tighten up the belt.

SOURCE: The brushes do not rotate

The brushs are driven by a turbine, if not turning, it may be bad. You can take it apart and try to clean it out, or just replace it. Also pull out the brush block and see if the shaft that goes up into the turbine is broken off, itis broke, then replace the brush block.

SOURCE: hoover steam vac model f7425-900 filter is

The brush system on this model has a poor engineering design in that the brushes are running off an air turbine, which uses a steel bushing to spin the turbine which gets rusty from the moisture when the machine is being used. No long term solver. I would replace the machine with a Dirt Devil Platinum Force model

I have the shark rotator lift away almost new, only used a few times, i inspected the small blk belt it is still tight, everything else seems good, brush is new why wont the brush spin ?

Does everyone understand there is switch or button that controls the rotating brush? Brushes stop spinning automatically when vacuum cleaner is in the UPRIGHT POSITION.
Because now you should be using the hose and attachments

Dyson DC 25 power shuts off in upright position

To clarify, do you mean the suction and brush motion shut off in the upright position, or that the entire unit shuts off?

If the latter, most Dyson uprights shut off the brush unit in the full upright position and shunt the suction into the handle for use with the accessories. There is also an on/off for the brush, next to the main power button for the DC25. If it's off ( or stuck that way), no brush motion. The manual also notes, 'for use, turn on power and click the foot pedal in back to recline the unit.' (Link to manual here:
http://www.dyson.com/medialibrary/files/dyson/support/downloads/uk/floorcare/manuals/DC25_Manual.pdf See Page 8). The
'High Reach Cleaning' section also notes that the brush bar won't rotate when the vacuum is in the full upright position.

If you are completely losing power, the manual notes that the unit will shut off if the bar is jammed, or if there is a significant line blockage that makes the motor overheat. If this is happening, check the accessory line in the handle for blockage.

Good Luck :-)

The brush will not rotate. I thought this was a direct drive system.

Note: The brush will not rotate when the machine is locked in the upright position, because an internal micro-switch turns the brush motor off.

- Check the belt through the clear brush cover. If this appears damaged or broken, please take your machine to a local BISSELL Authorized Service Center to have this replaced. If the belt is intact, please continue checking the following:
- Ensure both power switches are turned on when you check for brush rotation.
- Unplug the power cord and remove the handle completely. Slide handle back into the lower section of handle, ensuring the screw is in tight. If the handle is not aligned properly, this will affect the power of the brush motor.
- Look for debris wrapped around the brush (i.e. string, hair, fibers, etc.). When the machine is unplugged, cut away any visible hair, fibers or debris from the brush roller. This brush is NOT removable from the machine.
- If something has become lodged in the foot and the brush shuts off, turn off the vacuum and unplug this from the outlet. You can now remove the obstruction. The brush will automatically reset when the vacuum is plugged in and turned back on.

If you continue to experience difficulty with this, please take your machine to the following Service Center in your area. The warranty on this machine is five years.

Bare floor selection still rotates brushes

Your switch should have 2 different on positions. One for simple suction and one to engage the beater. The setting without the beater being engaged should be first position from off and the beater would be second position

I have a Hoover SteamVac SpinScrub. The brushes

If the speed control switch on the hood is in the On position, it would appear the drive mechanism for the brushes is not spinning internally. The drive mechanism could easily be replaced by a technician.

Dyson brush roller will not turn

Hi.

Your Dc14 will have A clutch unit.
Check that when you pull back handle to vacuum that the clutch control knob which is located front lower left side of machine moves to drive position & is not stuck in off or park position.
Rotate it to drive if its at off or park when you have lowered handle.

If adter checking this you still have no brush rotation you will need to remove clutch unit to either replace thr belts or fit new clutch.

DC07 bottom brush does not rotate.

I can not pinpoint what exactly solved the issue. I opened the bottom conver, cleaned any presence of hair, cleaned all hoses (yes hose was completely clogged), made sure that the brush bar was engaged by switching the selector back and forth few times from Carpet to Bare floor. (On bare floor setting, brush bar won't rotate).

Now I am happy that the vacuum is completely cleaned and back in operation!

No suction

Are you saying that the motor runs but there is no brush rotation ?

If yes then firstly switch machine on then when you pull handle back as if to vacuum the carpet the clutch drive dial must turn to (drive, start, on,) position if it is stuck on (park, off. Stop, p,) position rotate it to drive etc as you pull handle back providing the clutch & both drive belts are ok the brush will spin.
The clutch drive dial knob is situated looking from the front of machine lower left hand side approx 50mm or 2” in diameter.

Please do this test & let me know results
Regards Chris..
