Sounds like you need a new heater. test it with a meter to see if its open circuite. the programme will not move round if the heater is gone. heater cost around 20 GBP. to have an engineer do it will cost around 50 GBP.

Fault-F13 What does it means?

Hotpoint Washing Machines and Washer Dryers
  • F10 - No cold fill. Check that the taps are on or if the drain hoses are kinked.
  • F11 - No hot fill. The ambient temperature is likely to be below freezing possibly due to the pipes being frozen. Also check that the taps are on or if the drain hoses are kinked.
  • F12 - No mixed fill. It is likely that the water is not turned on at the taps.
  • F13 - Check the water supply, inlet valve and hot and cold hose connections.
  • F14 - A fault with the water heating has occurred. Book a washing machine repair
  • F15 - Water is not being pumped out and a flood condition could occur. Check that the drainage hose is raised to the recommended minimum height and that the pipe is not blocked.
  • F16 - Extremely high water level Disconnect or turn off the water supply and ensure that the water level does not rise any more. Then Book a washing machine repair
  • F17 - Door not closed properly. Close door firmly at the 3 o'clock position.
  • F20/1 - The thermistor resistance has drifted or the temperature scanning sequence is incorrect. The ambient temperature could be below freezing. Book a washing machine repair.

  • F50/51 - Customer language and wash programme have not been saved. The system will run with default conditions (1000rpm max and English language). Book a washing machine repair to re-programme your product.
The code f-13 refers to the water valve. Check it for any obstructuions in the screen and if your thinking it is bad you can always swap the hot and cold lines and change the settings to get the temperature you want and that will tell you if one of the valves is not working. Say if you want cold but no cold is coming into the waher, swap the cold and hot lines and call for hot water, if cold comes in then, then you will know that the cold valve is bad. If neither valve is working then replace the assembly

I have hooked my machine up to both the hot and cold water taps. However it seems that even if I set the temperature to a cold wash only hot water will fill the machine. Should I only be connecting to the...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Sorry. Silly question but I have to ask ;-0)
Have you connected them round the right way? The hot water hose should be screwed onto the RED painted position and the cold to the one painted either white or with no colour.
If you are ABSOLUTELY SURE they are round the right way, you machine is malfunctioning!

Does the wma76 hotpoint need a hot water feed? Is a cold water feed enough?

Hi from retired Englishman in France (it's 21:29!),

If your washer has 2 pipes for feeding water then one is for hot and the other is for cold naturally.
All washing machines have a water heating element in them- in case any hot water supply is not hot enough for its wash.
If you only have a cold tap you will need to purchase a 'Y' connector. This screws onto the cold tap supply (single end) and the hot and cold feed pipes connected to the washer screw onto the other two ends. The machine will now be fooled into thinking it has two separate feeds!
The machine opens the valve for the 'hot' water supply (which of course is cold) and the heats it up to the required temperature for the wash cycle. Afterwards, when the machine requires cold water for rinsing, it opens up the 'cold' supply (which is the same supply as for the hot water!) and is happy.

Hope this answers your question.

Cold water fill does it heat to temputure requied?

If your washing machine has inlets for both hot and cold water, you should connect both if possible. If you can only connect cold water, the washing machine will still work and heat to the required temperature, but it will need to heat the water in the machine, so the wash cycles will take longer and it will use more energy.

If connecting a hot and cold fill washing machine with cold water only, you will need to connect a Y-Piece for it to work:

The tail of the "Y" attaches to the cold water valve on your pipework. You then attach both hot and cold water hoses to the branches of the "Y" and connect both hot and cold water hoses to your washing machine.

Please post back if you need further assistance.

Our washing machine is putting out hot water when the temprature setting is on cold ...and cold water when it is on hot. All rinses are hot. What part could be bad?

The water temperature is incorrect The temperature of the incoming water determines the temperature of the water in your washer. You get either hot, cold, or a mix of the hot and cold water that's currently available to the machine. So if the cold water that enters the machine is very cold--or if the hot water entering the machine is very hot--the warm water is affected. If you live in a Northern climate, unless you adjust the hot and cold water taps that supply water to your washer, the warm water supplied to your washer is usually hotter during the summer months and colder during the winter months.

Do we need a Y connector for our combo washer dryer. We just have one tap in the kitchen sink

If you use a Y connector to provide water to the washer it will not be able to use different water temperatures. The water temperature at both the cold and hot inputs will be whatever comes out of the tap. The washer controls cold and hot inputs separately to change teh water temperature in the machine. A Y tap will only provide one temperature (whatever the tap is set to provide) to both inputs. If the tap is a faucet you could control the temperatures manually but the machine needs to have a water supply at both of its inputs.

Engry problem

Its true you are using power to heat the water....
all the time its heating through different temperatures, different stains are removed. Also its agitating for all this time. If you put hot water in only it wont wash as long. Also the incoming temperature could be too hot for some fabrics. Also you wil be using your hot water to do all the rinses.
Its up to you, but, zanussi know what they are doing

Remove the entire drawer, place in hot soapy water with a bit of bleach. Use an old toothbrush, cotton buds or something similar (pipe cleaners/cable ties would do the trick, too) to clean out all the little grooves, channels and little pipes. Ideally, do this about every 6 weeks, if you can remember.

While you have the drawer out, you'll probably notice in the drawer a build-up of horrble black mouldy gunk (yes, a technical term). You need to clean this out, and maybe use your chosen proddy thing (cotton bud, etc) to clean out the holes and channels on the roof of the cavity.

Put the machine onto a rinse programme, hopefully this should solve the problem. Good luck :)
