Question about Hampton Bay 04078 Avanti Ceiling Fan

Installed the fan and remote will not reverse directions

Installed fan and wanted to have the fan push air up or down and fan will only turn in counter clockwise direction, which means it will not cool the room only heat it. Cannot figure out how to use the remote or it is malfunctioning.

Switch on side of fan above the actual fan blades needs to be switched off . There is a directional fan swirtch that is located above the fan blades right in the middle of the motor housing should have to pull the sliding toggle switch oppsite of current position

I have a sidewinder model 312 342 in which we only use the hand remote. The wal mount remote was not installed. The hand remote does not have the feature to reverse the blades. is there another remote...

The short answer is no.
Since it is not a function of the fan's original remote control buying any remote that has this (as a custom feature) will never work with your fan. . . Sorry

Explanation:

Since you usually only change the rotation twice a year this is accomplished by a switch on the fan itself.
During winter heating, to help move warm air that is trapped on the ceiling, blades should turn 'forward' in a clockwise motion. This movement will push up the air and pull the warm trapped air down the sides of the room improving heat distribution.

During hot summer weather, to help produce a comfortable breeze or 'windchill' that cools the skin, blades should rotate in a 'reverse' counter-clockwise motion. The air movement has the same comfortable effect as when you fan yourself with a magazine to get relief from hot, stifling air.

Hope this helps,

After researching the complaints on this product I found that the reverse mode can be intermittent, the high speed can be slow at best and the returns of this product back to the store are staggering. Get a new but different model.

1.) this model uses a remote control controller to operate its functions
2.) the reversing is done via that remote.

Just installed a hunter 27227 remote for use with my Hampton Bay fan. The fan was electronically reversable via a F/R switch on the old remote. Everything is working great except that the thing is running...

I recently had Hampton Bay fans installed with the Hunter remote and the electrician showed me that there is a small switch on the fan and you turn it either up or down depending on whether it's hotter months or cooler months because it changes the direction of the airflow to cool down a space or help spread heat. That may be what your issue is-- it's probably set to help spread heat rather than cool things down. I hope this helps!

Minka Air Concpet II Fan with wireless remote will not switch direction. Currently only turning counter clockwise. Wil stop and start and the light will turn on and off but it will not reverse

what you actually need to do is have the fan on ie. spinning (albeit in the wrong direction) then press and hold the change direction button. after about 10 seconds or so the fan will slow down and then start to spin in the opposite direction.

it's silly they don't make this clear in any of the instruction manuals.

Fan does not reverse. the wireless remote does not have a button to reverse the fan nor the chain pulls cause the fan to reverse direction. is there such a thing as technical support for hampton fans ?

Only the remote decides when the fan reverses. Weird, I know. Depending on room temperature and selected temperature (on the remote), the fan will reverse direction. For example: If you set the remote temperature (set temp.) for 74 degrees and the actual room temperature is 70, the fan will reverse to bring the warmer air (which is always closer to the ceiling) down and warm the room until the set temperature is reached, then the fan turns itself off. The remote monitors room temp and selected settings and repeats the cycle.

Fan won't reverse to counter clockwise

I had a hampton bay fan that absolutely did not have a revers switch on the fan anywhere! MOST fans bought today will reverse. I was not about to give up. I scoured the net for an answer and could not find anything to help. I did however find a comment somewhere that said it could be done internally. After about six months I decided to search again (now). Nothing... so I started playing with the remote and the wall switch and Shazaam! I figured it out on my hampton bay fan. Turn the fan on high... Turn the wall switch off.... wait until the fan is pretty slow in rotation... hold the HI button on the remote.... Turn the switch back on. IT Worked for me! Hope this helps someone. SparqMark

My fan reversed, but my controller does not have a reverse button

There is a switch on the housing of the fan. It is under the blades and above the lites if you have lights. Also same area as the chains. That is the reverse switch you might have hit it when cleaning the fan. just flip the switch iy goes left to right or reverse.
Good Luck and please rate

Mika aire remote fan

Not sure if this addresses your problem or not, but with my Minka Aire ceiling fans, the fan has to be moving in order to change the fan direction. Turn the fan on (any speed works), then push the reverse button. The fan will speed up to max, then you'll hear the gears switching. The fan will slow to a stop, change directions and get back up to speed in the new direction.
