Epson Aculaser C1100N - Black Toner problem

I've put a black toner (when requested to) in the printer as per manual instructions and I've found that the toner seems to be dumped into the printer and running out within a few sheets use. The cartridge is being installed correctly and this hasn't happened before. The quality of print is very good but the black toner is being used ridiculously fast and during use is being emptied into the inside of the printer which has required meticulous cleaning. This has happened with the last two cartridges. Although there is toner still left in the cartridge it says Replace K Toner on the LCD. What is the problem? Is there anyway of resetting the chips to factory defaults and starting again. One of the toners that was used was an original new toner and the last one was a refilled original cartridge. I'm at my wits end! Help!

Great thanks for the quick reply. Can I change to the factory settings whilst the printer is warming up and calibrating? The scenario now is that I switch the printer on and after several minutes of calibrating the message comes up on the LCD Replace K Toner and at this point I cannot access any settings.

I have the same problem. After a (very) long calibration the printer asks to replace k toner. how can I get access to the botom of the printer to see if it has just been dumped?

also has anyone foud a solution yet?

IF the problem persists with an original cartridge then the factory settings should be restored refer the manual or go through the settings in the control panel . minimise the tone of printing . If toner is getting accumulated in the printer then it might be due to refilled toner not the original cartridge . use the original cartridges

Hi Colin.

I just have had the same problem with my Aculaser C4200.
I may have found a way to solve you problem.
Just print 10 blank (without anything), and after that i took all toner's, the fuser etc. and put it back again. Printed 10 more blank pages, and printed over 200 pages with lot of tekst and colour (think that 50 pages could do it).
After 2 days everything is still ok for me.

Light print on right side of page

from what you are saying, if color is fine and black is not, its most likely the black drum that is the problem. the toner is part of it. try taking the black toner out and shaking it, and putting it back in, if it still does not help, most likely it is the toner/drum.

thanks adi

Black Cartridge just changed, but still says K-toner low

The only way to clear the message is to wait until the the display shows XXXX Toner Out, then change the cartridge and the message will clear itself.

Sounds like the black dev unit is worn out. Easy enough to change yourself if it is out of warranty. If it is in warranty get Epson to do it for you.
