Some scanners have a 'locked' mode which is used to lock the eye in position and prevent it from moving when being transported.

perhaps look for this 'lock' switch on the scanner on in the user manual.

Year make and model helps. But if it does it in park and driving. Most likely the engine is shot. Could be the transmission, because some parts move in it when in park. Find out exactly the noise is coming from.

How do I correct the clanking noise in the rear of my Schwinn 24" Meridain Tricycle?

It could be that the chain needs tensioned, or if it is a coaster brake, the hub may need serviced. The noise could be coming from anywhere and your best bet is to have a qualified mechanic look at it.

Runs okay but is starting to make loud sharp clanking noises

Clanking sound is bearing that has gone bad in a treadmill, unplug the treadmill remove the motor shroud. Use a long handled screwdriver and touch it to a non-moving portion of the front and rear rollers and motor and then put your ear up to the handle and the screwdriver will amplify the noise of the part so you can find out which part is making the noise. If it is a bearing, it will be obvious which part is the problem because the grinding or clacking noise of the bad bearing with be amplified by the screwdriver

Loud clanking noise in gear if the clutch is not engaged

Almost sounds like a throwout bearing problem. Either way, bring the car back and make them fix it. It will be covered under the warranty so dont let them try to convince you otherwise.
