Most likely the scan software is outdated or can not be used by your particular OS version. Try checking HP's website for updates. Also make sure you use the update feature of your mac to make sure that it has all its proper updates. If you do that and dont have any sucess email me at and I will help you more.

My HP7580 is part of my wireless home network and it prints fine but I cannot get it to scan. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows XP PC. Any suggestions on how to solve the problem?

If the machine is installed correctly, I found that it needed a machine actually plugged in to the USB port in order to scan through the software. I did find that you can configure the machine, whilst connected via USB, to put items scanned through the front buttons, onto a shared drive/folder through the wireless, using the HP software that comes with the machine.

Sadly I don't have the machine here in order to walk you through the settings, but hopefully you will find them. Just remember, it needs to be connected to the USB cord to do the initial set-up of these options.

Scan wont work on mac psc 1410v

First are you trying to scan using the scan button on the all-in-one or from the computer? If you are trying to use the scan buttons, you need to install the HP full-feature software package: . (If you need to expand the section marked drivers.) Uninstall the printer and disconnect the data cable before installing this full software.

If you installed the basic drivers that came with the Mac OS, you can scan using Apple Preview and Image Capture software. You can also acquire a scan from the Print & Fax > Printer browser. Open the software from the dock or from the Applications folder. In Apple Preview, choose File > Import from Scanner. In the Image Capture program select the all-in-one from the list of devices.

For the Print and Scan. Open System Preferences from the Apple Menu. Click Print & Fax and select the all-in-one. Click the Scan tab and Open Scanner. Then click Scan.

With the HP software you can launch a scan from the computer or from the scanner (but only if the monitoring program is running). You need to set up the HP Utility for the scan task manager.
This site has the full set of steps: .

Sometimes an all-in-one will work for printing but not for scanning due to a damaged cable. Scanning requires bi-directional communication with the printer. Try replacing the data cable. If you use a USB hub or print server, try a direct connection to the computer.

I hope this helps.

I recently bought a MacBook and it won't connect wireless with my hp7580 all in one printer. The built in print server seems to work but I cannot install the printer in applications like Word. What to...

You have to actually install the HP printer software package. Even if you do have the CD that came with the printer, there's a good chance there's a newer version of the software at

With Apple computers, adding software for peripherals is often not necessary, but the two common exceptions are with HP printers and all-in-one printers that have scanners. Some printers that have scanners won't work wirelessly at all, but the newer ones will, and sometimes they will print wirelessly but not scan wirelessly.

Connect pc printer to imac

You can install it with following specification

1) Install the diver for the printer on each device. I actually had to carry the printer into another room and hook it directly to the PeeCee to get the driver to install on it. I also noticed that it was better to download the driver than use the disk. Software online was newer than the disk, even though I just purchased the printer.
2) Plug the printer into the router and power cycle the router.
3) Download the Apple software "Bonjour" from the Apple website. Run it from the computer you want to hook to the printer.

Remember to make SURE the driver for your printer is installed ON the computer you want to print from or it won't work. As I found out you may actually have to carry the printer around to each computer to get the driver to install correctly.

Hope this helps! BTW the Mac software with my HP7580 is AWESOME!

How to scan to Apple computer

It sounds like your HP isn't seeing your computer since the only options it's offering do not relate to a computer. Have you checked to be sure your computer is seeing your printer? Can you print from your Apple to this printer?
Also, Apple has a utility called Image Scan that might work for you. Double click on the hard drive, then go to Applications>Image Capture and see if that program will see your HP. If it will allow you to select the HP. If it doesn't see it, you might be able to go to Devices in the menu at the top and have it search for the HP. You might need to use the TWAIN UI to help you connect.
I have found Apple computers to be more difficult to attach (and keep attached) to scanners than PCs (even thought i hate to admit that!)
