How do you adjust brightness on a Gateway ZX4971. There are no buttons on the monitor.

My Gateway monitor instructions refer to buttons located on the right side. The procedure calls for pressing the Auto button first to set the display image for the current screen resolution then pressing the Menu button to open the on-screen display (OSD) menu. You can move through the OSD menu to select parameters such as Picture (brightness).

How to view

Connect the power and data cables securely to the back of the monitor and the computer. Try plugging the computer and or monitor into another outlet to be sure there is no problem with the outlet. Go to the Control Panel and click on "System and Security" and then click on "Power Options. Click on "Change Plan Settings" and adjust the brightness of your screen. Push the button or buttons on the bottom front of the monitor to access the monitor controls. Scroll through the menus and look for a brightness control or contrast setting. Use the button or buttons on your monitor to adjust the brightness. Hope this helps

My computer monitor has somehow turned its brightness all the way down, possibly due to me choosing a new screensaver which was already installed on my computer. Sadly, my monitor, an Emprex LM-1704...

Find yourself a dark room or wait for the night to come. The darkest monitor adjustment could somehow reveal some light when there are no other light source available.

You may also hook a conventional CRT monitor and make your changes (such as bringing your computer back to its original settings). The darkest adjustment in CRT monitor could still render discernible displays.

Tha display screen is dark, shows very faintly.

Can you be more specific ?
The first step is to isolate the system at fault:
1) Monitor hardware ?
Test it on another PC or
Try a different monitor on the same PC
Check monitor adjustments.
Check the video cable, try another one.

2) What kind of a monitor is it?
CRT (like and old TV) or an LCD flat screen

3) Video card problem, possible but not as likely

4) Video driver or operating software settings issue
wrong video mode, video settings the monitor can't handle,
incorrect device driver

lots of possibilities here.

I have had a Hitachi CM721F monitor for about 3 years now, and the focus is getting fuzzy. Is there any way to adjust the focus?? The brightness is fine. Thanks!! Dave Barnes,

If you can open your monitor you can adjust the focus in the back of the plyback of your monitor. But be careful to touch other parts of the monitor to avoid damage to the monitor in to your self. Use sharp thing or plastic to adjust the focus in the plyback. When you open the monitor cover you can find the plyback in the back end of the board of monitor usually color black and there are four wire connected to the board in the monitor yoke. Look for the two holes adjustment the upper one is for the bright and the lower one is for the focus. open the monitor and adjust the focus slowly again avoid to touch the other parts of the monitor. goodluck
