Unfortunately this sounds like part of the power section inside has failed on you. If you are still seeing a power light but it won't turn on this is typical. Basically it won't come out of standby if it shows some life. Normally the part that will fail and cause this is worth somewhere between 25 cents and at most $4 or so. The labor to replace that can run many times that amount.
If there is a local repair shop they should be able to fix it fairly inexpensively. Get an estimate before letting them fix it just to be sure you don't end up with a surprise and make sure it is or isn't under warranty.
