Kenmore Fridge model 253.65802508; appears not to have power? Wall plug works OK, trip reset, and plug is well into socket. Extended power lead to another plug , no different. May have been lost due to lightning strike as it broke around same time as the storm. Is there an internal fuse or something else that needs to be reset to make it work? What could have been damged for it to not be working?

SOURCE: bulbs and bottom pcb blew, replaced but still not working

the start and run capacitors of the compressor can go short circuit and cause a big spike that can blow the bulbs, trip fuse etc. Inspect the capacitors for splits etc, you may well find that the start cap has blown and so there will not be enough current to get the compressor running.

SOURCE: refridge stopped working after a power surge

First, check to see if the light comes on or if there is any fan, motor, or other sound coming from the appliance? If so, the refrigerator isn't really completely stopped--go to the specific problem you are having. If not, try adjusting the thermostat to a colder setting. If that doesn't work, read on.

Second, check to see if there is power getting to the refrigerator. To do that, plug a lamp or other device into the same outlet the refrigerator is plugged into. If there's no power, check the fuses or circuit breakers. If the fuses or breakers aren't the problem, contact a qualified electrician to restore power to the outlet.

If there is power to the appliance but it still seems to be stopped, there may be a problem in one or more of these:

  • Wiring

  • Thermostat

  • Defrost timer

  • Compressor

  • Overload and/or relay

Kenmore fridge, model#253.682800. I have a new defrost timer being sent. Looks like an easy install, plug style. Remove ceiling console , wiring harness unplugs, do I really have to unplug fridge ?

the logic is for safety [so you dont get zapped if accidentally touch power ] other is so dont damage or short other components while moving wires around

Whirlpool refer is 3 weeks old and just stopped working. Like it was not plugged in, everything is off. I check the breaker, it was not tripped but I reset it anyway. Still dead. What do I do>

next time send the full model number,if it's under 1 year it's still under warranty so call whoever you bought it from or call the 800 number off of the model number tag on the machine, one thing you can try,run an extension cord to the fridge and plug it into another power source and see if it runs or plug a light into the socket you have the fridge plugged into to make sure it's not the plug,if you have gfi's in the kitchen one of them could be tripped, seen this before, fridge shouldn't be connected to gfi but find them like this,if you open the door and no lights or nothing is on you have no power,if the socket is good, remove the back panel and check the power cord,i found a guys fridge would power down just the lights on the board on the door that controls the machine, thought i was the board because the lights inside were on,it was the power cord, went in the back and moved the cord and board would light up,very strange, loose connection on the cord.if these things check good call the factory,if you mess with it you could void the warranty.good luck.

Fisher & paykel fridge e521t no power to fridge, not any power coming to fridge

Did you try an other electrical outlet? Can you test the outlet has any voltage?
does the fridge have an on / off switch? I don't think so, so if nothing works also check the cable and the plug going in the outlet.

My Kenmore Ultrawash Quietguard Standard dishwasher won't start --or light up. I've checked the wall switch and circuit breaker and both seem okay. Darek Johnson [email protected]

Most dishwashers and other appliances using water, are protected by a Ground Fault Interrupter or GFI. These will sometimes trip without having detected any dangerous leakage current and others will get oversensitive causing them to trip well below their design current. A GFI wall socket will have two buttons on it; one to 'test' the other to reset. On some brands, when they are tripped, the reset button moves only a little further out and may not appear tripped. GFIs are also found combined with circuit breakers that also differ in appearance from the unprotected type and will also have a reset button. If your dishwasher is plugged in under the kitchen sink, check its appearance to see if it is GFI equipped.
BTW, these can be used in one location and connected so all of the wall plugs on the same circuit can be served by a single GFI equipped breaker so check any others nearby as well.
If a GFI refuses to stay set, it may be actually detecting some leakage current of a dangerous level so don't assume the GFI is bad, the appliance on it its circuit may have developed an internal problem.

No...check that there is power at the wall socket...try another location...maybe the power supply is the problem.

Moved Kenmore dishwasher to new house. Installed it. It will not start. Is there a reset switch? Model 587-1541590. Electrical installation checked OK. Water connection checked OK. Is there something I...

You say "electrical installation checked OK"...is the machine hard wired into a junction box or does it plug into an outlet?

If in a wall socket the new house circut may be on a wall switch which is currently off. If it is plugged into a GFI outlet it may have tripped, Find another power source to wire to, GFI plugs and dishmachines just don't get along, Learned that some time ago!

There may be an issue with your door safety switch on the unit.

Check for voltage where the house wires are wire capped in the machine if hard wired, sometimes twisting those can cause issues.

I doubt your machine has a reset switch but many hobart units have on on the motors.

It really sounds like you have a voltage issue.

It has no power. the green light on the plug does not come on. i tried resetting it, and changing power outlets.

When you say you've change the power outlet I guess you mean the socket on the wall, and if am right then check the circuit breaker from the main consumer unit it has tripped and you need to reset it.
