Kenmore Fridge model 253.65802508; appears not to have power? Wall plug works OK, trip reset, and plug is well into socket. Extended power lead to another plug , no different. May have been lost due to lightning strike as it broke around same time as the storm. Is there an internal fuse or something else that needs to be reset to make it work? What could have been damged for it to not be working?

the start and run capacitors of the compressor can go short circuit and cause a big spike that can blow the bulbs, trip fuse etc. Inspect the capacitors for splits etc, you may well find that the start cap has blown and so there will not be enough current to get the compressor running.

try to unplug for 2 min and plug back in to reset the unit otherwise sounds like you cooked a board

First, check to see if the light comes on or if there is any fan, motor, or other sound coming from the appliance?
