Re: problem wid pc .. using windows xp

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to open the Task Manager. Click Applications and then New Task. Type in cmd which opens the command prompt. Type in sfc/scannow and hit enter. Insert your (OS) cd into optical drive.

It seems as though your iexplore.exe is not loading on startup.
While you're troubleshooting you can run this free utility. There's a chance your start menu may be running malicious software under
the cloak of iexplore.exe, winlogon.exe, or svchost.exe.

How do i open my bookmaks

Depends upon your browser.
For Google, make sure your bookmarks bar is activated in "settings" which you can get to from the tools menu - far right of address bar. Also from this menu are various options for viewing and managing bookmarks.
For IE, use the star icon on the right of the window, and this will show you your favourites (as IE calls them), and the list can be pinned to the left of the IE window by using the icon at the top left of the Favourites window.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya

How to Set an Administrator Account Password in Windows XP. ( Windows Password )
Step 1. Shut down your computer completely. Wait for 20 seconds and then reboot your computer in Safe Mode. Here's how: As your PC starts up, repeatedly tap on your F8 key as soon as your computer's logo appears (Compaq, HP, Dell or other logo). This will bring up a "Windows Advanced Options" text menu. Use your keyboard arrow keys to select the "Safe Mode" option. Press the "Enter" key. This brings up another text menu with a selection of operating systems, typically "Microsoft Windows XP." Highlight this option and then press the "Enter" key again. This loads Safe Mode on your PC, and will present you with the Windows Welcome screen.
Step 2.Log in to the Administrator account in the Welcome Screen. Click "OK" if a warning message pops up. Next click on the "Start" button in the bottom left-hand corner of your PC. Click on "Control Panel," and then double-click on the "User Accounts" icon to open it. This will display a list of the different user accounts that are on your PC.
Step 3. Select the Administrator account, which takes you to the Account Settings screen. Click on the link "Create a Password."
Step 4. Fill out the blank text boxes provided in the password creation window. Click on the "Create Password" button at the bottom of the window. You may be prompted to choose whether or not to make the Admin account files private. Indicate your preference and then click "Finish." This takes you back to the "User Accounts" window.
Step 5. Close the "User Accounts" window and then reboot your computer normally. Your Administrative account is no longer a security liability.

I have internet explorer 8 on my computer. i have check the box in properties to add the ie icon on the desktop. it is not a shortcut. the icon changed to a old ie6 icon from shell32.dll. i tried...

Hi fitfit759, assuming you have Windows XP. What you can do is go to My Computer - Local Disk (C:) - Program Files = Internet Explorer and with "right click" drag the iexplorer.exe icon to your desktop and then when you release the mouse it's going to ask you whether copy, move or create a shorcut. Click on create a shortcut and that's it.
It's a little strange because if you installed internet explorer with NO errors, you shouldnt have that problem. Please dont forget to rate and give positive feedback for our free support today. Thank you :D

How can I remove task bar icon which directy opens website?

    Download SMITFRAUD cleaner

    1. Print out these instructions as we will need to close every window that is open later in the fix.

    2. Download SmitfraudFix.exe from here and save it to your desktop:

Confirm that the file SmitfraudFix.exe now resides on your desktop, but do not double-click on the icon as of yet. We will use it in later steps. The icon will look like the one below:

    3. Next, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode by doing the following:

      1. Restart your computer

      2. After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.

      3. Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear

      4. Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

      5. When you are at the logon prompt, log in as the same user that you had performed the previous steps as.

    4. When your computer has started in safe mode, and you see the desktop, close all open Windows.

    5. Now, double-click on the SmitFraudfix icon that should be residing on your desktop. The icon will look like the one below:

    6. When the tool first starts you will see a credits screen. Simply press any key on your keyboard to get to the next screen.

    7. You will now see a menu as shown in the image below. Press the number 2 on your keyboard and the press the enter key to choose the option Clean (safe mode recommended).

    8. The program will start cleaning your computer and go through a series of cleanup processes. When SmitFraudFix is done, it will automatically start the Disk Cleanup program as shown by the image below.

This program will remove all Temp, Temporary Internet Files, and other files that may be leftover files from this infection. This process can take up to a few hours depending on your computer, so please be patient. When it is complete, it will close automatically and you will should continue with step 11.

    9. When Disk Cleanup is finished, you will be presented with an option asking Do you want to clean the registry ? (y/n). At this screen you should press the Y button on your keyboard and then press the enter key.

    10. When this last routine is finished, you will be presented with a red screen stating Computer will reboot now. Close all applications. You should now press the spacebar on your computer. A counter will appear stating that the computer will reboot in 15 seconds. Do not cancel this countdown and allow your computer to reboot.
    11. Once the computer has rebooted, you will be presented with a Notepad screen containing a log of all the files removed from your computer. Examine this log, and when you are done, close the Notepad screen.
Your computer should now be free of the AntiVirGear infection.
