ticking you hear is the timer motor, drive motor is most likley geeting too hot.check vent ,dryer pushed back too far?hose kinked ?stopped up?too long?vent should be short, straight and of hard pipe.clean vent twice a year, heating element will love you.you will not love to replace it.
Mark, the two hoses serve different functions (Fresh Air Intake & Hot Air Exhaust). Therefore, they would have to remain separate. Also, Haier does not recommend extending the length of the hoses, to accommodate a specific change in installation. And yes, they can be vented through a wall to the outside. But, you would need to use something similar to a clothes dryer vent termination on the outside. Most exterior dryer vent terminations have insect screening and a flap door that opens when air from the dryer pushes it open. This would be fine for the exhaust hose, but not the Air Intake Hose. I guess if you could carefully remove the flap door. it could be used on the Air Intake hose. Also, keep in mind that the unit requires a minimum of one foot air space clearance off the back of the unit, for proper air circulation around the unit. If clothes will be hanging in this closet, that may present an air circulation issue.
i could not find that model number on the haier website www.haieramerica.com you can get the manuals and parts list there. you dont need the haier hose however lowes and home depot sell what im guessing is three or four inch hose that you can use say a dryer vent flex hose or alumaflex hose to connect this unit. unless you are going for the looks.
I own the Haier 9,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner - White. This is the second day that my unit has blow out air that smells really bad. I went to check my unit to find that there was a leak of some sort of chemical that smells like what is blowing from my unit. What should I do?
