the fusers get about 300 degrees to melt the toner to the page. If you do not have the phaser clean regularly, the paper dust that is next to the fuser could smell like it is burning.

The machine will maintain about 160 degrees in standby. That wax type ink needs to remain liquid to keep its color properties. If you shut the machine off, it will remove and replace all the ink in the print head.
