Xerox 8560 is very hot even in sleep mode

We have a Xerox 8560 and the top is very hot when on standby. A previous one had smoke coming out of it (it was replaced) so I'm a little bit worried.
How hot should the top be when it's in sleep mode?

The fusers get about 300 degrees to melt the toner to the page. If you do not have the phaser clean regularly, the paper dust that is next to the fuser could smell like it is burning.

The machine will maintain about 160 degrees in standby. That wax type ink needs to remain liquid to keep its color properties. If you shut the machine off, it will remove and replace all the ink in the print head.
It will be fairly warm. But that is what it is supposed to do.

Phaser 8560 wont print

I've had my HP do this a lot with my Probook. Sometimes I have to turn my printer on manually even though the light is on, it sometimes go into a sleep mode. Maybe your printer does the same.

Also, have you made the printer your "defaul" through control panel settings? Just a few ideas.

Printing from wrong tray

I suffered from the same problem for a long time. We got Xerox Phaser 8550 and 8560 here. I choose on computer "tray 2" but the printer just print from tray 1 which is empty.

Today i figured it out! It's some configuration at the printer. So go to "Paper tray setp" -> "Tray 1 mode" and "Tray 2 mode" -> change to "static".

I figure it's like this. Before it was "dynamic", it probably means the printer decides it's better to use tray 1 even though you choose tray 2 - and this decision is stupid. Changing it to "static" fixes this.

Let me know whether this works for you too!

Hi,

There is nothing you can do about the cleaning page. And if its only using 20% of your ink, you're luck normally its 25% of the ink. This is simply how the machine works. Nothing can be done. The Xerox employee was simply trying to give you something to try, but it won't change anything!

Install wiper on xerox 8560 dn

Hi,

The user guide is available here http://www.support.xerox.com/go/results.asp?Xtype=docs&prodID=8560&Xlang=en_US&Xcntry=USA&prodName=Phaser%208560

Also, I think there are two wiper blades on the 8560, one is on the maintance kit and the other is supposed to be removed, that was the old 860 that could remove theirs. Perhaps cleaning it will be fine. just open the top of the machine and its right there, give it a wipe and it should be fine. The other wiper blade on the maintanance kit and here is a link below to show you how to clean it!

Xerox Phaser 8560 Waste INk

Although I agree totally, the anwer is no. Althought it appears black, take a piece of it an use it like a crayon. It is a combination of all the color inks combined. So if you take and rub it on a piece of paper it will be a purple color. So threfore would not create proper colors.
Now to save ink, Do not turn the printer off at all. Just let it use its own sleep mode. The power consumption is intermittent to keep the print head warm and uses about the same ammount of electricity as your refridgerator light bulb. The reason being, when you turn off a solid ink printer, it purges the print head of ALL old ink and dumps it into the waste tray. That is part of those weird noises you hear when you cycle up the machine, one is a compressor emptying the print head.
Also, honestly, althogh I am not sure what you are using the machine for. But you would be wise to put that product on a pay per page maintenance agreement. That includes all ink and all service. Some of the parts for those printers are super expensive.
I will say one thing you can do with that waste ink, if you know anyone who has children, they can use them as purple crayons..

Program copier not to sleep at work

  1. Press the [Access A] (key symbol) button on the top, right corner of the Control Panel.

    wcpro55-contl-pnl-access.jpg

  2. Enter the system password using the numeric keypad, then select [Enter] on the Touch Screen. The default password is 1111.

NOTE: The default password is 1111. The password will be displayed as an asterisk (*). If you make a mistake, press the [Clear (C)] button and re-enter the password. To cancel the operation, select [Cancel]. If you are experiencing problems with your password or have forgotten your password, contact your administrator.

  3. If the Internal Auditron is not enabled, select the [Go To Tools] button (does not apply to copier-only models). If the Internal Auditron is enabled, select the [Tools Pathway] button.
  4. Select the [More] button.
  5. Select the [Power Saver Administration] button.
  6. Select the [Set Duration Times] button.
  7. To adjust the 'From Standby Mode to Low Power Mode' time-out, select that box so it turns black then enter a new time using the numeric keypad on the Control Panel. The Standby to Low Power may be set between 1 - 120 minutes.
  8. To adjust the 'From Low Power Mode to Sleep Mode' time-out, select that box so it turns black then enter a new time using the numeric keypad on the Control Panel. The Low Power to Sleep may be set between 0 - 120 minutes.

NOTE: There should be a minimum of one minute between the 'From Standby Mode to Low Power Mode' and 'From Low Power Mode to Sleep Mode' settings. For example, if the 'From Standby Mode to Low Power Mode' is set to 10 minutes, then the 'Low Power Mode to Standby Mode' should at least be set to 11 minutes.

  9. Select the [Save] button.
  10. Select the [Exit Tools] button.
