Model?

On a model I just repaired here's what I found:

Model: 110.69422801
Kenmore Electric

No heat. although sometimes it had heat for a short time. Suspected that the heating element was faulty (i.e. cracked heating coil). Nope. Checked hi and lower thermostats and both were good. Took apart timer controller. Found that the contacts inside were worn/burnt. Item is designed to fail. Slightly bent one of the contacts to make better contact and it is working. Ordered new timer/controller ($45 including shipping from "One Appliance" on line). Easy to replace. ALWAYS disconnect the power when servicing!!!

Why does my dryer stop heating

Clean your vent!
Try running dryer with vent unhooked if still shuts off could be bad thermostat. Try running on timed dry instead of sensor dry, could be sensor circuit.

Whirlpool dryer doesnt heat, time and shut off when you open the door

if you have it on time dry and it doesn't count down the timer is bad but it should stop when you open the door unless you have a broken door switch too, just open the door and push in on the switch with your finger,it should make a clicking sound,if not the door switch is also broke,if you have the timer on auto or more or less then it won't move without heat.on auto the heat comes on when the dryer reaches temp. the heat shuts off and the timer will advance a little, then the heat starts again and the timer stops,it will do this until the clothes are dry by using a sensor instead of time.

The dryer works and heats up but it won't shut off

I believe that your timer has run out of time! ;) Seriously though, Your problem is more than likely your selector (the dryer timer knob) is worn out. Time to replace it with a new one.

Good Luck my friend!

Kenmore Dryer 70 series electric-quit heating and timer wont shut

This link will help you in diagnosis/disassembly/parts.

Possibly a faulty heat element is most common failure. Fix the no heat problem and the dryer should shut off ok.
Make sure you have correct voltage to the unit before tearing apart. Again visit the link above

Amana dryer not advancing on auto

Make sure the vent from the dryer to the outside is clean.
Reduced air flow can cause your symptom.

You can remove the vent hose from the dryer and operate the dryer in the automatic cycle.'
If the timer advances you know the vent needs cleaning.
Clean the lint filter housing also.
A flashlight helps to see all the way down the housing.

Roper Dryer not Drying

Get a thermostat and place it in the exhaust. The thermostat should reach 160 and then shut down and drop to 120 F and start back heating to 160 again on cotton setting. You should hear an audible click when the thermostat opens and closes. If the dryer is clear of lint and blockages then change the control thermostat which is mounted on the blower housing.
