Toro Mower wont stay running

The main reason why a mower starts up and then cuts off after a short period of time is because of poor air flow to the carburetor and is most likely a blockage somewhere.

First you should try this. Remove gas cap and filter then place a really thick rag over the top of the carb where the filter was and either blow into the gas tank or wrap a rag around a tapered air chuck and then place the air chuck in the gas tank (with rag fitting snug around chuck) blast it a few times and listen for bubbling, if it's bubbles then you have removed the blockage..
Take the carb off of the mower and clean the carb / jets with a thin piece of wire.
Be sure to clean the gas tank completely and the fuel line.
Check the oil level, some mowers have a low-level oil shut off.
Change the plug out with one thst is reccomended for your engine.
I wouldn't reccomend running the mower without the filter, that causes dirt and grass debri to enter the carb, fuel line and tank.

This should fix the problem, if it don't you should find a lawn mower repair service.

I hope this helps.

Toro GTS 20332 (bought it 12 months ago) won't run

I believe that Toro Guarantees to start 1 Pull, was gas left in it all winter?, If so this is'nt covered under warranty, cause gas is to be ran out or dumped out at end of season this will prevent any gumming up of carb . did you completely disassemble carb? does it have a primer on it, those gskts need replacing, clean out the jet in bottum of float bowl, small holes, sometimes missed and remove and check your needle/seat to make sure that when float drops gas runs out then lift float up and gas should stop. hope this helped you, another thing spray carb cleaner in carb and pull over and see if it will start that way enough to keep running with choke to see if it will **** gas into it

Mower was running fine until I went on a incline .It stopped and would not start again. It has gas.

Check your oil level and condition. Most new motors have oil sensors on them that turn the motor off if the oil level is too low or in bad condition (old). If the oil level is low and you go on an incline the oil that is in the motor will flow away from the sensor and it will 'think' there isn't any oil in the crankcase and cut the motor off. The sensors are usually on the back side of the motor so going straight down hill will cause the oil to run away from the sensor, if it's really low sideways tilting can cause the same effect. If this is the cause the motor should start fine when level.

Have a toro mower it starts but stops right away. i prime it and it starts right up but stops again. it will not stay running. model number is 20671 ser#3018721

I would look at the fuel line. It may be cracked and sucking in air. Other than a gummed up carb, that's all I can think of. It's obviously a fuel delivery issue, Has to be one or the other.

Mower wil not stay running (only a few seconds) I added oil and gas is ok.

This may be a duplicate response.

Check the vent in your gas cap. Loosen the cap and see if the mower will run (to allow air into the tank). The vent must be clear. Is there a fuel filter in the line? It may be clogged. Is there anything in the tank that would prevent fuel from getting to the engine?

What is the time delay from the time it stops until you can start it again? If it is not a fuel problem, you might have an electric problem. It will be difficult to determine (electric problem) this if the mower starts up right away after it stops.

Let me know if this works for you.

My Toro lawn mower starts good, but it only runs for about 5 minutes and shuts off. I have new gas in it and a new spark plug. It is only 3 years old. Also it won't start right away after it quits.

Sounds like you need a carb cleaning. Also install some Seafoam gas additive in your gas tank to clean out the gunk that builds up. Do not use ethanol gas.

Toro lawn mower sputters and stops working after running

fuel delivery probblem might be vapor lock(to much heat getting to fuel lines and carb) may also have dirt in fuel bowl on carb and in tank ,gas tank lid may not be venting . it will be one of these three things
