Mag Innovision 765S power supply light blinks and... (by 2 users)

posted by Jrenee on Nov 18, 2007

Greetings! We have a MAG Innovision 765S monitor that was no longer producing a picture and I had given up on it until I started reading some user comments on this web site. When we plug it in to the computer and power it up, there is no picture, but the power LED blinks and it makes a regular clicking noise like it's trying to turn on. We notice that the power supply, which also has an LED, is also blinking on and off. So that leads me to believe it may be a power supply problem rather than a monitor problem. Any thoughts? (don't know where to buy another power supply!)

Thank you!

I confess I'd have to take it to someone with the tools and the talent in order to accomplish your suggestion, which makes sense. It is not easy to find places where they repair monitors. When I took the monitor to Best Buys, their response was that they would have to send it out, and due to the high price of labor, I may as well think about buying a new one instead.

I have a mag 578 and the power "supply light" is solid green, im guessing its the light on the cord. anyways the monitors power light blinks like so, long green, off for 1/2 a second then back to long green. long green is about 2 seconds. The monitor was given to me and ive already torn it apart and searched for burnt board and loose cables but nothing. would love to fix it as its the same size as my current crt monitor :)

I'd suggest looking at the mainboard. I assume the blink is rapid? A slow on, followed by a short off and back on again is normal. The fast blink thing is a mainboard issue, and the absence of blink (or light) is power "supply dead."

There is a problem transistor on the mainboard that seems to be the problem most of the time. Replacing it takes about 5 minutes if you have the tools and the talent, and the parts cost under 3 bucks at Radio Shack. Just pick up a pack of NPN switching transistors and de-solder / solder your way to a working monitor. There's usually only one on the board, so it's easy to spot.
