Question about Westinghouse 19" Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor

2 monitors down in 2 days! Planned Obsolescence?

I purchased 2 L1975NW 19" Widescreen monitors at the same time, and have used them together for a little more than 2 years (the length of the service plan). 2 days ago one of the monitors quit working, at first when I would turn it off/on again there would be a perfect picture for a second then black. I can't get anything but black screen. Now the second monitor is having the same problem! They have both been plugged into a UPS for their entire life so I don't think power surges where to blame. Should I just bite the bullet and buy new monitors? Or is there a simple solution? I find it very strange that they quit working within days of each other. Planned Obsolescence?

It could be a computer problem
The only way would be to test the computer on another monitor and the current monitors on another computer.
Then you will see which has failed.

Polar ft40 watch doesnt work. I have replaced the battery and nothing happens.

This heart rate monitor has a generic flaw with the sensor. The touch sensor fails after a few months of use. It is not a battery issue. Return to where you purchased it. Buy another brand. All of the drug stores carry this watch which has an abnormal return rate. The sensor fails after a few months while the watch function is fine. Seems like planned obsolescence.

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

The color is incorrect on my L1975NW (Westinghouse) widescreen

Try hooking it up to other PC to see if it does the same thing.
Try another VGA cable.
If none of above change the symptom then open it up and inspect the caps in the power supply, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Open the monitor, examine the circuit boards. Look for small components that look like small cans, these are capacitors. If you see any that look bulged on top, then your problem can probably be solved by replacing these. Check out the following sites;

go to your control panel of your computer (using a different monitor obviously) and change your screen resolution to 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, or 1440x900. any of those resolutions should work. also go to advanced and make sure it is set at 60 herz.

No display, clipping sound appear

The clipping sound is the internal safety switch that keep shutting down the monitor.
It means there is an internal problem on the main board (overvoltage, bad component , short).
Try unplugging power cord and leaving it unplugged two or three hours, this will reset ICs by draining power completely from circuits, it is called hard reset, it rarely works.
CRT monitors waste up to 15 times more energy than TFT screen, if your CRT starts giving troubles, then it is a good time for upgrading it to a new TFT.
