JVC GR-DVL920u digital video camera cannot be recognized by my personal computer at home or at work. Have tried the USB connection and the digital video connection. Have uploaded the driver from the CD. Still will not recognize camera. Any solutions?

Both home and work PC use XP.

Both home and work PC use XP. However, I look in the owner's manual of camcorder and only find directions for downloading still photos, not video. Not a promising sign.

Did you install de the software that came with the camera?

It seems to me that the camera is only recognized as a portable storage device. And so you will be able to store still photo's but no video.

You need to have access to a program that is able to recognise the video material.

Either universal capture software or software that was provided by the camera..

Anyway I suggest that you re-install the camera software in the most complete way.

    That should resolve the problem.

Upload video

The USB on your camcorder is for downloading still pictures only. If you want to transfer video to your computer you need to hook up a firewire cable, which is to the right of the USB connection. Firewire is also known as 1394 connection.

Hope it helps.

My computer no longer recognizes my JVC GR-D70U mini DV cam when I plug it into a usb port.

Hi, I am not sure. But I believe the camcorder has to be on when you connect to the computer. and I assume you use firewire for this particular camcorder.
I too once had this problem when I used Windows Vista. If you too use Vista, try it with Windows XP.

cheers,

JVC gr-270 drivers

Try www.driverguide.com look up JVC miniDV USB. There are many drivers, you just need to try until you get one that works. USB will only transport over still pics, you need firewire for video transfer.
