Jandy LX250 LT Pool Heater High Limit Switch

The High Limit switch LED is lit and the heater will not fire up at all. Any help to resolve the problem would be great. It is a natural gas low NOX unit.

Thanks

Jump the High limit switch. If it fires the switch is bad

problem is rarely due to a faulty safety switch. the high limit will open due to an over temp situation. So most likely something cases it to open. Simply saying "replace the switch" is a half assed attempt from so called techs

Jandy Lite 2 Pool Heater won't stay lit

This could be a number of things, high limit switch, temp sensor or clogged burners. If the heater does not get much use cob webs could be the culprit. To test the high limit switches you can disconnect them temporarily and use a jumper wire , if it fires and stays lit then you have found your problem. Just disconnect the 2 wires , and use a separate wire to connect the two together bypassing the switch. This is a safety feature and should only be jumped as a diagnostic tool and not left to operate this way.

How much time would a technician need to replace a high limit switch on a Jandy Pool Heater?

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

It should only take a few minutes to actually replace the part; quite a bit longer to diagnose the problem depending on the way the switch failed and overall condition of the heater. It would not be unreasonable to get a bill for an hour to troubleshoot and repair a heater with a defective high limit switch.

High Limit Swtiich message

The high limit switch is one part of a safety loop circuit that must work before a heater can fire. It's purpose is to ensure tha tthe heater will shut off in the event of a thermostat failure or if the internal core gets too hot due to a lack of water flow. If the switch is failing, it needs replaced. There are 2 so you can replace both or make an attempt to determine which one is bad. It is best to replace the pair.
