Question about Canon PIXMA MP150 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Every couple of days have to keep deep cleaning nozzels to get the black to work.

    Have you tried looking deeper into the machine and cleaning that? Remove ink cart, place aside, look where the cart is sitting, is it seating properly? There may be a lot of black ink where the cart is placed b/c of this issue, take a cotton swab with rubbing alc and clean connection, look everywhere else inside of printer maybe something else dirty too

This is a common problem with this printer engine. It is because of the design. The print head is seperate from the cartridges, and therefore is never replaced, unlike say an HP, where the print head is integrated into the cartridge and is replaced everytime you replace a cartridge. The only thing you can try is to remove all the cartridges, and there should be a small lever on the ( i think ) right side of the assembly that they go into. You should then be able to remove the printhead assembly. If you take it, hold it upright and dip the printhead, (just the shiny metal part on the bottom where the ink goes onto the paper) into some near boiling water, briefly, ( kind of dunk it ) and then depress onto a slightly damp paper towel, and repeat process until no more ink shows on paper towel, then reinstall into the printer soon ( after drying it off with a paper towel) and then clean the cartidges with the printer software. What happens is over time, the print head becomes clogged with ink, and then shows a degraded print. Canon made this print engine to be disposable. I have, however, recovered many of these print heads, as I am a cartridge and printer technician. Good luck!

I have deep cleaned my MP190 twice as per instructions and still I get horizontal lines in my printing.


The printhead has a few blocked nozzels. If deep cleaning does not clear the blocked nozzels then the printhead needs to be changed.
A new printhead is an expensive item and costs nearly as much as a new printer. I suggest you put your money towards a new and better printer that may be a more cost effective solution.

My canon iP3500: Black print comes out patchily, despite many attempts at deep cleaning, Each time I deep clean, a couple of pages come out with the black print OK, then it goes patchy again.


It sounds to me like your cartridge nozzles are clogged. That's more common with recycled or refilled cartridges, but it can also happen with new cartridges if they are older. If you just purchased the cartridge you could try to return it. Otherwise, I would try to continue deep cleaning and nozzle checks until it starts to print. It takes a lot of ink, but sometimes that's the only way to get it to print. Usually it will work eventually. Do a nozzle check in between each cleaning and deep cleaning.

Not printing anything in black only the other colours... I have cleaned, and re-cleaned, checked nozzels, changed cartridges done all the troubleshooting hints and still nothing. It's only black that's not...


Hi Alcadeus here just a quick tip if you take out all your ink tanks the print head cleaner lift out easily dont worry it goes back easy believe me. On the bottom you have two strips they are the actual heads, you need to cleen them preferably with alcohol i had none so i used aftershave. Then re-assemble the unit and do 2 deep cleans hey presto problem solved.

Worked for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The reason why is the heads go dry or get clogged.

No black print


I work for kodak with these printer's.
I provide tech support for them.
For this problem all i would recommend is doing the deep clean on the printhead twice, Doing it more then twice is a waste of ink and if it doesnt fix it the second time it won't.
Also replacing the black ink cartridge.
Also calibrating the printer has worked for me a few times.
I would not recommend cleaning the printhead manually, thats more of a chance to break it then fix it.
I would just recommend calling into the kodak tech support and getting a replacement printhead to fix that clogged nozzel problem.

ya hi, the nozzels must have got dried up and choked, put a few drops of hydrogen peraoxide on the nozzel for some time and then clean it, this will free the pores in the nozzel, be careful with the chemical, or take some proffessional assistance.. let me know
