I have a sony vaio VGN-260 laptop and I'm trying to replace the dvd drive. I can't find any instructions on how to replace it. Does anyone know how or what website I can go on. Thanks!
I do a fair number of laptop repairs and the most common method for removing the keyboard is to unscrew all screws on the bottom of the unit(some may be hidden by rubber feet), then push the screen back so that it is totally open as far as it will go, finally the plastic above the keyboard is usually a seperate piece that simply snaps off. Be very gentle and, if your Sony is setup the way I descirbed, pry the edge of the plastic up. Continue pulling the plastic up until you can lift it away. This should expose the screws that hold the keyboard in. Sometimes there is also a screw below the keyboard that holds the DVD drive in as well. I have not repaired your specific model before, but every Sony laptop that I have repaired uses a method similar to this. Good luck!
I have a Viao VGN A260 and I'm trying to replace the dvd drive. Does anyone know how to take out the dvd drive? I think you need to take out the key board but I can't figure it out. Help, Thanks
On my Sony 770 there were 5 screws under the drive and it slid right out.
