  • Is the thermostat knob turned to the proper setting?

  • Is the compressor motor running? It's a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts on the outside of the freezer at the back near the bottom. Is it humming or making any kind of continuous noise? If it is, but your freezer is still not cooling at all, there may be a serious problem with one or more of these areas:

    • The compressor

    • The condenser

    • The evaporator

You can't service these yourself. You need to contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

If the compressor isn't running but you do have power to the freezer, there may be a problem in one or more of these areas:

    • The compressor

    • The overload and relay

    • The defrost timer

What can be the reason be for my stand up freezer not getting cold

Your freezer is stuck in the self defrost cycle. It could be a timer or heater issue. You have to check the specifics of your make and model; sometimes just unplugging for 10-20 minutes will reset a timer / unstick a heater; if that works you'll still need to keep an eye on it and eventually have it replaced. (the timer or heater)

I have deep freezer chest that does not freeze but when you plug it in you can hear it click on but will not get cold at all has been unplugged for a few years but stored in a dry building

If it doesn't get cold at all, then your compressor is not running. Which could be the start relay or start capacitor or even the compressor. The relay and capacitor are not that expensive and pretty easy to replace, but if it is the compressor then you might not want to put that much money into an older unit.

My freezer gets cold on the bottom but does not freeze anything. I never hear the fan come on. I replaced the thermostate but still the same. What part should I try next. I have model FFU14FC4CW1

    Hello,

If the compressor comes on the thermostat is good, what you need to check is for power to the fan in the freezer, if power present at fan but it doesn't run the fan motor is bad.

Does it make sense that a frigidaire plhs67egsb3 refrigerator freezer could stop working simply from overloading? The compressor is running, the condenser coil was clean but the evaporator coil was frozen...

the defrost heater or thermostat circuitry is bad,you need to test both components, also the defrost timer control if the other parts test o.k..,the defrost tstat has to be below 32 degrees or it will test bad/open,when the evaporator coil gets iced up you cannot blow cold air through a solid block of ice,(NO air flow)means no cold air throughout the unit even with the evaporator fan running

Side byrefrigerator runs but not cold. Freezer is

take everything out of it, and let it thaw for 24 hours, using towels and whatever to clean up the water......then plug it back in, if it still does it, like 2 days later, it's broke, if it doesn't it was just the coil in the back that froze up. Happened to me.

Running High @ -10 C and should run at -20 C on coldest setting

    1. Make sure the sealing gasket is making good contact all the way around. It's pretty easy to lose 10 degrees. If it is a magnetic seal on the door gasket, it may not be sealing all the way around.

    2. If it is staying that cold, everything is working well enough. Maybe you need a little gas in the compressor. Time for the service guy.

By the way, is your unit speced to be that cold full of supplies? Is the door opened frequently? minus 35 is pretty cold.

GIBSON DEEP FREEZE IS RUNNING BUT EVERYTHING IS THAWING OUT

Might try unplugging for a few hours and then plug it back in. There is a possibility that it slugged the compressor and there is a restriction in the line. Sometimes when the compressor fails to stop running in cold air the liquid gets back to the compressor. It can cause a bit of gunk to be picked up out of the oil and carried to the expansion line and plug up the line. Maybe turning it off will let the plug fall free and not replug the line. Worth a try anyway.....
