The only simple thing one can do is too check the fuses for this , actually I think these devices have a circuit breaker ,there the silver things in the fuse panel under dash , if the fuse goes again , ck your window seals 4 cracks as mine went bad and leaked water down into the motor and messed up all the works

    I did as you suggested, I tried putting a fuse in that empty slot but it sparked fire. What now!

SOURCE: I have a 2000 mercury mountaineer. Power door locks

Fuses would be the first suspect. Look for a small bread-loaf size box that contains all the fuses and relays. If a new fuse pops as soon as a seat or lock is operated, then look for a stuck motor for the seat or a shorted solenoid for a lock that was just operated. If it pops as soon as replaced, then suspect a wiring short.

I have a 2000 mercury Mountaimeer and none of the locks work, tried switch and key. no luck. changed fuse 10 and 18. any ideas? mechanic I asked said bad activator but surely not all 5;

some systems use a single actuator that supplies power to the lock solenoid and that is why you hear all locks work at once. May be that is the actuator he was refering to

I looked at the owners manual for the fuse box under the hood that has the fuse for the Power Windows . According to the manual there isn't a relay in this box for the windows. Is it somewhere else ?

Check in the Power Distribution box, this is located in the engine compartment, and contains high-current fuses that protect your vehicle.

For POWER WINDOWS, check the position 4, 30AMP (Maxi Fuse) (also Power Moonroof, Power Seat).

This and other details can find in your 2000 Mcercury Mountaineer Owners Manual.

Hope this help (remember comment and rated this).

1997 moutaineer Non functioning power windows, sunroof, door locks and power seats. What's the cause?

Check the fuse under the hood top right corner fuse box Third fuse down on the left side It is a 30 but in older Mercury Mountaineers the wires come slightly corroded and tend to not transfer enough power. So in conclusion either A: the fuse is blown or B: Boost it up to a 50 fuse which is what I had to do
