I have the same problem with my S3000 camera.

When I take a picture everything seems to work but one second after, it tells me "write error". I think it means that my picture card is write protected.

How can I REMOVE the write protection

    Thank you

I have been using my fine pix s3100 for a long time with a 1m fuji card in it- it was full so i bought a 1m olympus card put it in and used it then took the card out and put it in my laptop to get the pictures directly which i normally dont do then put the card back in the camera it said" Card not Initialized" i took it out put my old fuji card back in the computer took some pic's normally then took and turned my camera on later after messing around with the cards trying to get the camera and cards to work by swapping them back and forth then now my camera says "card not initialized all the time and wont take pictures at all. The laptop won't allow me to reset the cards either. ????? My camera was an awesome camera and now I can't use it????

It is possible that the largest card this camera will accept is 256MB. Check your manual to be certain.
At 3.2MP this will store up to almost 300 images so it should be of ample size.
Regarding the next question, I don't believe it is possible to lock an Xd memory card. The writhe error is likely due to the above or damage to the card or the card port on the camera.

Sounds like there was an error while the camera was writing information to the card. You can try reformatting the card using a computer and a card reader, then replace it in the camera and format it from the menu. If that doesn't work and the camera is locked up you can try to do a "hard reset" by following the instructions on page 176 of the camera manual.

Card not initalized

Is the card larger than 2GB.
If so its too big for the S7000.
The only solution to more capacity is 2GB xd card + 2GB compact flash card.
Or just use as many XD cards as you need.

Card Not Initalized

An option that you can do is to format the memory card on a computer. YOu have to remove it from the camera and plug it in a computer then format via My computer. And then put it back in the camera. Another possible option is to remove the card and then turn the camera on. then off and then plug the card back in then format it in the camera.

These have to have an SD (not SD-HR) card that is 2 GB or under. You then have to format it by going to the setup menu and selecting format, while the card is in the camera. Just had to deal with this today and that was the solution.

Format error

Before buying a new memory card, try to use your card in another camera. When you say you tried to format it through a card readr, do you mean that the card reader was connected to your PC?
