Turntable is a little slow. How to change speed / pitch?

If it is slow on all speeds then it might be a build up of grease or dirt in the mechanism, or perhaps it needs oil in the motor?

Why is this turntable running slow?

It depends which type of turntable it is. If a belt one then change the belt, make certain you make a note of how the belt fits before removing it.

Direct drive turntables are more difficult. As it could be any number of faulty parts that cause it.
A build up of grease or dirt in any type of deck can slow the speed down.

A faulty motor on both types of deck will also cause it.

My JVC turntable has no plug, just a 10-13v lead

Probably as long it produces DC. However you will have to adjust the speed. As the unit was set for a certain voltage which wouldn't change. It will either go fast or slow depending on what the original voltage was. The speed adjuster will either be two presets one for each speed that could be located under the turntable base (covered by a sticker) or on the power board of the deck. Or they might be on the motor itself.

It plays too fast. I suppose its the belt.

the belt will not adjust the speed unless it is slipping, therefore will slow down not speed up.
there should be a speed playing dial. for lp or 45's.
or have you had it repaired. if someone replaced the pullies on the drive or driven end this could have change the ratio and speed.

TURNTABLE SPEED TOO SLOW. IS THERE ANY WAY TO ADJUST IT.

The liely cause of the slow speed problem is the belt. Your turntable is belt driven, like components in your car's engine compartment. As the belt ages, it can begin to slip. Replacement of the belt will probably restore the speed once again. The PX-E860 turntable has been discontinued. There are parts, such as the belt, that are still available. How much longer these parts will be available for remains unknown. If you like the the turntable, you should consider purchasing several belts as the next time you need one, they may not be available or may cost much more.

One source for replacement belts (there may be many others, ie: eBay):

You might also need a manual to direct you as to how to go about changing the belt. The manual is a free (after registering) download below:

Too slow?

http://www.archive.org/details/Turntable_Belt_Installation

above is a generic video that applies to almost all belt driven turntables including yours that will show how to install the belt and a few other things.

this can be caused be a new belt being too wide, you may need a narrower belt.
