If you are asking about the "SCAN TO PDF" button, it allows the scanner to create a Portable Document Format (PDF) file. PDF files are files that can be viewed with the free Adobe Reader software. The PDF format files are easy to store on your computer and easy to share. PDF files can have many pages. Image files, like JPG, can only hold one page per file.

If you use PDF files, make sure you only get the reader software from Adobe.com.

1. Click PDF on the Custom Scan with One-click tab or click PDF in the one-click mode screen to open the PDF dialog box.
* If you wish to convert the text in a document to editable text data, scan the item with the OCR. The precision of OCR is affected by the nature of the scanned original

2. Select the type of document to be scanned.

To scan correctly, select a document type that matches the document to be scanned.

3. Select a file type to save the scanned image.
Select PDF, PDF(Multiple Pages) or PDF(Add Page)
Important
Click Set... to open a dialog box and specify the PDF compression type and other advanced settings for creating PDF files.
4. Place the first original on the scanner and click the [Scan] button at the right bottom corner of the PDF window.

5. When scanning is completed, place the next original and click the [Scan] button.

6. Repeat scanning by clicking the [Scan] button until you finish all the originals.
7. When all the original is finished, click the [Exit] button.

8. When the scan is complete, it automatically starts the application program that displays PDF files and opens the scanned image file in it.

To scan a text document or black and white document, you are recommended to set the Scan Mode to Black and White or Grayscale.
You are recommended to limit the number of pages in any one multiple PDF file to 20 or less if you are scanning a color document with the Image Quality set to 300 dpi and the size to a setting equivalent to Letter size.

You will need a program such as Work share, or Adobe PDF editor both do cost money but are worth it for adding signatures and form data to a scanned document.

1. You can use A-PDF Image to PDF (free download here) to scan a document into PDF format and email it with only 2 steps:
   Click the "Scan paper" icon to scan documents from scanner
   Click the "Build to One PDF And Mail" icon to create a PDF document contains all of the scanned documents and email them.

Create a new windows user account .Try to scan the document in the new admin user account.

you have to set up on the machine to scan to SMB. you then creat a folder in your c drive to recieve the scaned documents the folder needs to be a shared folder and you have the option to recieve it im PDF format.     let me know if that helps you out.

However your question is rather wide open as far as what your needs are and what the device is capable of and what your question is. If you need to scan to a folder, (individual workstation or server) you will need to make a shared folder. Some customers want a shared folder on the server so that everyone can access it. Some people want individual shared folders constructed for each user. Some want both or neither. Because of security, many companys opt for strictly scanning to e-mail, as it can be monitored, tracked, and controlled by the IT people easily.
